‘The Little Butcher’ in Formby is making a big impact on the community

The new butcher in Formby has already made a big impact with customers.

Rob Wade has been a butcher for some forty years. From Shropshire originally, he began life at Dewhurst the Master Butchers as it was back in the day.

Rob worked in many different areas along the way including once as head butcher on a cruise ship!

After managing and helping to run various butchery departments for most of his life, Rob eventually took the plunge into his own business in Tarporley, Cheshire where he enjoyed many successful years. Eventually his personal events meant that he had to sell up his business and move on. After a couple of years working freelance for various butchers, he then relocated to the Southport area.

Rob said: “I have known Southport and Formby all my life as we used to visit as a family treat when I was a child and I loved visiting! So it’s perhaps fitting that I have finally settled here and have been fortunate enough to find a shop in this fabulous area of Formby where I can do what I love most, selling the best quality meat that I can to the wonderfully supportive community here.”

“Everything we sell is as locally sourced as possible and we can provide anything, even if it’s not in stock at any given moment.”

“We specialise in Dry Aged meats and Steaks in particular. It is my mission to ensure that every single steak we sell, is memorable for the right reasons - Taste and Tenderness. The dry aged meats are proving very popular already and service with a smile of course!”

“We also have freshly baked pies which are worth making a visit for alone!”

Rob is only quite short and laughed when we asked why he called his shop ‘The Little Butcher’, saying it seemed apt because of his height.

The Little Butcher is open Tuesday to Saturday 8am til 5pm with the exception of Saturday 8am til 3pm.

Rob continued: “What are we about? Quality not Quantity. We want you to enjoy sustainable quality produce as part of a balanced healthy diet as opposed to eating cheaper, inferior food.”
