A familiar name is returning to Formby, with Taskers preparing to open a brand-new home store in the former Formby Cycles premises on Altcar Road.
More than eight years after the retailer closed its previous Formby store on Church Road, Taskers is making a welcome return to the area.
The new store will be located at 101–103 Altcar Road, just across the Formby bypass and beyond the Tesco area, in the substantial building formerly occupied by Formby Cycles.
Taskers Interiors has already begun making its presence known, with its distinctive branding now displayed prominently on the building as work gets underway ahead of the opening.

The new premises represents a significant change from Taskers’ former Formby operation. The Church Road store, which closed in January 2018, was approximately 5,000 sq ft and specialised in lighting and decorative accessories.
The new Altcar Road location provides a much larger space in which Taskers can establish its latest Taskers Interiors concept, creating a substantial new destination for furniture, homewares and lifestyle products.
While Taskers has yet to reveal the full details of the new store, the company has confirmed that it will be returning to Formby as a Taskers Interiors store.
Formby Bubble has been in contact with the Taskers team and is awaiting further information, including the confirmed opening date, opening hours, the ranges that will be available and details of any launch events or special offers.
We will bring those details to local residents as soon as they are confirmed.
The opening will also bring new activity to the Altcar Road area, following the closure of Formby Cycles earlier this year.
The long-established cycle shop had occupied the premises for many years before permanently closing in 2026. The building is now being given a new lease of life, with Taskers set to transform it into its latest retail location.
The opening could also create new employment opportunities in the area, although Taskers has not yet confirmed details of recruitment for the new Formby store.
Taskers and Formby: a history:
For many Formby residents, Taskers is a name they will remember from the retailer’s former store on Church Road.

Taskers Decorative closed at the end of January 2018 as part of a major restructuring of the business. At the time, the company cited challenging economic and trading conditions and said it needed to concentrate its efforts on its larger stores and online operation.
The closure marked the end of Taskers’ presence in Formby after many years.

Taskers itself has a long-established history on Merseyside. The family business began in 1958 and developed into one of the region’s best-known home retailers, building a reputation for furniture, interiors and homewares.
The company has experienced significant changes in recent years as the retail industry has evolved, but has continued to invest in its brand, stores and product offering.
Now, more than eight years after the closure of its Church Road store, Taskers is returning to Formby and this time in a considerably larger premises.

With the Taskers branding already in place, the new store is beginning to take shape and is set to become a significant new addition to the local retail scene.
For a business that has been part of the Merseyside landscape for almost 70 years, its return to Formby represents a significant new chapter.
Formby Bubble will bring you the confirmed opening date and full details of the new Taskers Interiors store as soon as they are announced.
