Southport Offshore Rescue volunteers were called into action twice at Formby Beach on Wednesday 27 May, assisting emergency services with separate incidents involving people requiring medical attention.
The first call out came at 5.48pm when the charity’s quad bike team was tasked to assist RNLI lifeguards with a man experiencing breathing difficulties on the beach. The team responded quickly and helped provide casualty care before the man was handed over for further medical treatment.
Later the same evening, at 10.28pm, the Southport quads were again deployed to Formby Beach, this time to assist Southport Coastguard Rescue Team with the evacuation of a teenager who had sustained an ankle injury.
The casualty was treated at the scene before being safely evacuated from the beach. She was then able to continue for further care with her friends.
The two incidents highlight the vital role played by Southport Offshore Rescue, RNLI lifeguards and Coastguard teams in keeping beach visitors safe along the Sefton coastline.
Formby Bubble would like to thank all the volunteers and emergency service personnel involved for their continued dedication and rapid response.
