Serious RTC on the Formby bypass with a cyclist and a car

There has been a serious RTC on the Formby bypass at approximately 11am on Tuesday 15th March.

The RTC happened at the junction of Hightown and the bypass near the Causeway Southbound.

The RTC was with a cyclist and a BMW.

Emergency services are on site.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “Officers are implementing road closures on the Formby Bypass between Altcar Road Junction (Tesco) and the traffic lights at The Squirrel Public House. This is due to a serious road traffic collision.”

“Further updates to follow, but please avoid the Formby bypass for the foreseeable hours.”

We will keep you updated on the situation but please avoid the area. The bypass is closed and traffic being diverted.

We have been told that “every road from Formby towards Ince woods is closed. Including all the ones behind Tesco. You will have to go via Maghull to get round. That includes trying to get to hightown also.”
