Players/members wanted for Formby Junior Sports Club- Franks report from last week’s games

Formby Junior Sports Club’s sixty-fourth football got off to an excellent start last Saturday morning at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields. Every age group from the four year olds up to including Year Eight was very well attended with new members in every sessionjoining the returning young footballers from last season. There were active and fun coaching sessions which were then followed with exciting games of football and plenty of goals. The parents on the touchlineenthusiastically cheered and applauded all the footballers for their efforts. It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning for all.

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME

Everyone is invited to come along this Saturday, September 10th.

Parents can download a Formby Junior Sports Club membership form for 2022-2023 from the website formbyjuniorsportsclub.co.ukwhich can be found in the club document section. Alternatively parents can contact Club Chairman Frank Rourke who will send you a form to complete and return and provide any necessary additional information. Parents can also just bring their children along on the day. We have spaces still in every age group.

For new members, if parents wish a two session ‘try and see if their child enjoys it time‘ before paying the annual club membership,this is quite in order. All we need initially is for the membership form to be completed.

Remember Inter Club football is open to all as soon as a child becomes four years of age. They do not have to be in Reception yet.

Also just because FJSC does not, at present,have a Girls’ Section it does not mean that girls cannot play football at the club. Girls wishing to play football with the boys are very welcome to do so. In fact a number of the victorious Lionesses started off their football playing with the boys.

INTER CLUB INFORMATION

Every Inter Club member will have, at least, a one hour Saturday morning session with coaching (£2 each week) and a fun match.

The next session is on Saturday 10thSeptember at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields.

TIMES

Years 5/6. 9.30 am - 10.45 am

Years 7/8. 9.45 am - 11.00 am

Four year olds 10.45 am - 11.45am

Years 1/2. 10.45 am -11.45 am

Years 3/4 . 11.15 am - 12.15pm

Goalkeeper Coaching is from 9.00am -9.30am. Any budding young goalkeeper is welcome to come along and join in.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM FOOTBALL

Next weekend will see the start of the season for the FJSC Representative teams. On Saturday FJSC Under 9 White and FJSC Under 13 Black will play their first Hightown Junior League matches. The FJSC teams playing in the Craven Minor League will all be in action on Sunday 11th September with the exception of FJSC Under 9 Reds who unfortunately have no match.

The three new FJSC Representative teams will be playing their first ever competitive matchesnext Sunday. FJSC Under 7 White are at home to Southport FC. FJSC Under 8 Black play FJSC White. In the Under 11 age group FJSC White are away at Birkdale United.

At Under 9 level FJSC White and FJSC Black will both be playing the Crosby Stuart teams. FJSC Under 10 White meet Redgate Rovers Green. FJSC Under 12 Black travel to Southport Hesketh. Finally to find out theFJSC kick off times please click on to theWhat’s On page on the club website.

CLUB NEWS

Everyone at FJSC would like to thank the Russell family for their very kind donation made to the club. It was made in memory of Alex Russell who was a very well known footballer. Over a forty year period he would often be seen on the touchline at Deansgate Lane. Alex first watched his son Alex at Inter Club, then much later his grandchildren and very recently his great grandson Huey. Alex will be greatly missed.

Also recently it was very sad to hear that former Representative team manager John Brennan had also passed away. John also helped in the Inter Club Section and was a wonderful helper at the club. Our thoughts are with Maureen, Daniel and the Brennan family.

PLAYERS WANTED

FJSC Under 7’s need 2 or 3 more players for their Sunday morning team.

Also FJSC Under 13’s is looking to extend their Sunday squad with 2 or 3 new players.
