My Nan who is in her 80’s has been scammed by a plumber off Trustpilot, please be careful
Dear Formby Bubble:
Just a warning to people out there, please be careful. My Nan needed an emergency plumber today to stop a leak so she got the details of a company off Trustpilot (she can’t remember the name of the company but has this photo).
The phone number has been blanked out whilst Trustpilot investigate the incident
He came and stopped the leak and then said he needed her bank details to process the payment but because it was an emergency, he needed the long number, expiry and 3 digits on the back (she’s in her 80s and he talked her into it before anyone says she shouldn’t have). He went out to his van to ‘make a call’ and has taken more money out of her bank than was agreed and disappeared.
The number now doesn’t ring when you try and call it. I know having the company name doesn’t stop it happening again but please be careful what information you disclose.
The bank have advised her to inform the police when she rang them, hopefully she’ll at least be able to get some money back ☹️ people can be awful.
