UPDATE FORMBY BRIDGE NOW OPEN AS FROM 3pm - FORMBY BRIDGE CLOSED FOLLOWING SERIOUS ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT

UPDATE: FORMBY BRIDGE NOW OPEN - Good news for motorists. #Formby Bridge has now reopened in both directions as of 3pm today, following the earlier road traffic incident near the Duke Street roundabout.

The bridge had been completely closed by police for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

We are still awaiting an official statement from Merseyside Police regarding the incident.

At approximately 12:15pm this afternoon, Wednesday 21st October, a pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle at the bottom of Formby Bridge, on the Duke Street side near the roundabout.

Police are currently at the scene, and Formby Bridge has been temporarily closed while emergency services deal with the incident.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect delays.

There is currently no confirmed information regarding the condition of the pedestrian.
