International Coffee Brand 1401 Coffee Chooses Formby for New UK Opening

There is another exciting new arrival coming to Formby Village, and this one has an international story behind it.

1401 Coffee is preparing to open a brand new coffee shop on Brows Lane, next door to Blossoms Coffee Shop, with a major transformation of the premises already well underway.

Anyone walking along Brows Lane recently will have noticed the scale of the work taking place. The front of the shop has been completely transformed, with the new glazed frontage moved considerably further back into the premises.

This has created a large covered area at the front of the building which appears to have the potential to be used for outdoor seating, although the final layout has not yet been confirmed.

The design is particularly interesting when compared with existing 1401 Coffee shops overseas, where contemporary interiors, large areas of glazing and attractive seating areas feature prominently.

We understand the team is hoping to open around the middle of October, with a possible opening date of Monday 19th or Tuesday 20th October, although this is still subject to the work being completed and the date has not yet been officially confirmed.

1401 Coffee is a rapidly growing Turkish coffee and hospitality brand which began in Istanbul in 2022 and has expanded considerably in just a few years.

The company now has numerous locations across Turkey and has also expanded internationally, including into Düsseldorf in Germany.

These two photos are from existing 1401 Coffee branches showing the contemporary style used by the international coffee brand.

Earlier this year, 1401 Coffee announced a major move into the UK after completing a franchise agreement, with ambitious plans to establish a number of locations across Britain.

Formby now appears to be part of those expansion plans.

The company has listed Liverpool among its forthcoming locations and, with the distinctive 1401 Coffee branding now covering the windows of the Brows Lane premises, the Formby shop appears to be the Liverpool location referred to by the company.

This is much more than simply putting a new sign above an existing shop. Significant building work is taking place both inside and outside, with the entire front section undergoing a dramatic transformation.

The entrance and glazed frontage have been moved much further into the building, creating a spacious covered area between the pavement and the coffee shop itself.

Existing 1401 Coffee locations have a distinctive modern appearance, often incorporating contemporary interiors, natural materials, large windows and comfortable seating areas.

The company has previously explained that individual shops can be designed differently depending upon their location, with seating arrangements and layouts adapted to suit each particular site.

What can we expect?

Coffee is naturally at the heart of 1401 Coffee, with its existing locations serving a large selection of coffees alongside teas, cold drinks, desserts and breakfast choices.

Across its wider business, the company also offers food including sandwiches, salads and a variety of other dishes, although the exact menu planned for Formby has not yet been revealed.

The branding already installed at the Brows Lane shop confirms that this particular location will operate as 1401 Coffee.

The new business is also already advertising for baristas as preparations for opening continue.

There is still plenty of work taking place, but the scale of the transformation means this is certainly going to be one to watch.

What makes the arrival particularly interesting is that Formby is not simply welcoming another new coffee shop. A growing international Turkish brand which is now expanding into Britain has chosen Brows Lane as one of the locations for its UK journey.

An official opening date has not yet been announced, but work is progressing quickly and we will bring you more information about 1401 Coffee Formby,

including the opening date and its Formby menu, as soon as further details are confirmed.

We wish the team at 1401 Coffee Formby every success with their exciting new venture and look forward to seeing the finished transformation.
