Help Create Formby’s Very Own Board Game!
Imagine sitting down with family and friends to play a board game where the properties are Victoria Road, Chapel Lane and Duke Street, the Chance Cards are based on real Formby moments, and the Community Chest cards celebrate everything that makes our village so special.
Well, that’s exactly what’s happening.
Formby Property Tycoon isn’t a finished game that’s about to go on sale.
It’s a community project, and the people of #Formby are helping to design it from the ground up.
Think of it as a Formby version of Monopoly. Instead of London streets, the board will feature our roads, favourite places, local landmarks, businesses and all the little things that make Formby unique.
But that’s not all…
The organisers are inviting everyone to help shape the game by submitting ideas and voting on what should be included.
You can help decide:
🏡 Which roads and locations deserve a place on the board.
🎨 Which board design should become the final version.
🎲 What the Chance Cards should say.
📬 What the Community Chest cards should say.
💰 Even what the Formby currency should be called.
Imagine buying the finished game in the future and discovering one of your ideas printed inside. That’s what makes this project so special.
Here are just a few examples:
🎲 Chance Cards
• Stopped at The Kiosk for coffee and cake. Pay £5.
• You finally found a parking space near Formby Beach. Advance to GO.
• The tide is coming in at Formby Beach. Move back three spaces.
• Merseyrail is delayed. Miss one turn.
📬 Community Chest
• You volunteered at a local charity event. Collect £20.
• You helped rescue a red squirrel. Collect £25.
• You organised a beach clean. Collect £20.
The live leaderboard has now been released, so you can already see which board design, roads, names and ideas are proving most popular. There’s still plenty of time to influence the final game, and every suggestion helps make it a true reflection of Formby.
