Formby Gets Its First Ever set of proper Road Traffic Lights

For the first time ever, Formby now has a proper set of road traffic lights, the very first traffic lights in our Bubble.
We’ve had pelican crossings for years, of course, helping people safely cross busy roads and we’ve had the traffic lights by Tesco — but technically those sit on entering and leaving Formby but aren’t actually inside Formby.

But these new lights on Liverpool Road sit inside Formby itself and that makes them officially the first fully functioning road traffic lights in Formby’s history.
For some, it’s a sign of Formby growing and modernising; for others, it’s simply surprising that it has taken until 2025 for our village to get its first in-bubble set of traffic lights.
Either way, it marks a small but interesting milestone:
Our first real traffic lights — not on the boundary, not a pedestrian crossing, but a full red–amber–green junction right here in Formby.
Years from now we may find ourselves saying,
“Do you remember when Formby only had one set of traffic lights?”
Liverpool Road now proudly holds that title, for how long we do not know as the rate Formby is growing we may see more traffic lights in the future.
