New signing for FCFC. Formby Community FC have pulled off a huge January transfer signing this week and now have a new chairman.
Daniel Green has a successful track record working within the sports sector, notably within football. Daniel will lead the FCFC committee in developing and delivering a strategy for the club for the future.
“I would like to thank Tina, Ray and the wider Club Committee for their endorsement and this opportunity. Football has been an ever present in my life and so I’m delighted to be joining the club and to be able to play a small part in its bright future”, said Daniel.
Daniel has a wealth of knowledge that he is bringing to FCFC; he has played a key role transforming grassroots football both on and off the pitch. Most recently, Daniel was Liverpool County FA Chief Executive. He has previously worked at the Football Foundation - the charity of the Premier League, The FA and Government - as well as Manchester County FA and Raise the Bar Ltd.
Daniel replaces Tina Hamilton who has been chair since she, along with others, help start the club. Tina will still be involved with the club, and she was delighted with the new recruit.
She said: “When the Committee set FCFC up back in 2019 our aim was to create a club to use football as a vehicle for community cohesion. During the past 3 years we have seen the rapid growth in memberships to now over 700 and been able to set up our community section with dedicated volunteers from both the football and wider Formby Community.”
”From 2019 to the current day, we have helped 647 in the Formby area and are still volunteering weekly, which I will still thoroughly enjoy being involved with. It's been a privilege to work with the most amazing committee members past and present, as well as volunteers and I know the club is in safe and experienced hands with Dan, and the future is definitely looking bright and orange.”
Daniel spoke about his admiration for Formby Community FC and his thoughts looking forward, adding: “The club is well respected in the local community and has made great strides forwards both on and off the pitch, as evidenced by the club’s fantastic work during the Covid-19 pandemic. Providing opportunities for people of all backgrounds to play, coach or volunteer, the club has established themselves as a genuine ‘community club’ and provides football for all at so many levels. I look forward to joining the club’s passionate and dedicated volunteers as we continue to grow this fantastic club and support our local community.”
