Four men arrested and charged after a car was stolen in Formby
A car was stolen in the Formby area on Friday 5th October. Merseyside Police have now arrested and charged four men and recovered the suspected stolen car following an incident on the East Lancs Road on Saturday, 6 October.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "At around 3pm on Saturday 6th October, a Volkswagen Golf was pursued by officers along the East Lancs Road towards Haydock, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter. The vehicle was stopped near the Carr Mill Dam reservoir area of St Helens and four men were detained."

A spokesperson for the Police Helicopter team, NPAS Hawarden said: "Excellent teamwork by Merseyside Police Traffic and NPAS Hawarden to bring thepursuit to a safe conclusion using TPAC tactics and arresting/charging four men for numerous offences."
The four men detained were:
21-year-old Kieran Murphy from Parton Street in Fairfield was charged with driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage, and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
29-year-old Mark Bleasedale from Bardsay Road in Walton was charged with aggravated vehicle taking - being carried on and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
18-year-old Jordan McAleer from Rocky Lane in Anfield was charged with aggravated vehicle taking - being carried on.
21-year-old Lewis Langfield from Snaefell Avenue in Old Swan was charged with aggravated vehicle taking - being carried on.
All four men appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens Magistrates Court on Monday 8th October.
