Ravenmeols and Lifeboat Road land transferred to the National Trust
National Trust General Manager Jo Hudson hailed the transfer of the 204 hectares of land as a ‘wonderful way to mark our 50 years of working at Formby’. In the informal ceremony at Lifeboat Road car park, National Trust and Sefton MBC staff saw the documents confirming the transfer passed to Jo by Sefton Council Cabinet member, Councillor Paul Cummins whose responsibilities include care of the coast. He said ‘We believe that the land transfer will enable the National Trust to deliver a richer visitor experience with our local communities and secure the future of this extraordinary coastline’
Thanking Sefton Council and receiving the documents, Jo outlined the National Trust’s aim as being to ‘continue to ensure that the current and future generations can enjoy everything that makes this place so exceptional’.
The land transfer virtually doubles the National Trust Formby estate, bringing it to 414 hectares (1023 acres).
