Ten Police vehicles and the helicopter in pursuit of stolen car in Formby
A man and woman were arrested after a Police chase down the Formby bypass that involved ten Police vehicles and the Police Helicopter from Hawarden. It was the early hours of this morning, Friday 30th December when the stolen car, a BMW, crashed on the Formby bypass.
A spokesman from HPAS Hawarden said: "We lifted to assist with a search following pursuit of a stolen car in Formby. A male and female were arrested."
A spokesman from Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police is investigating a road traffic collision on the Formby by-pass in the early hours of this morning, Friday 30th December."
"The single vehicle collision involved a BMW car, which police believe had been on false plates. It was being followed at distance by police vehicles close to the roundabout at Liverpool Road, Formby, when the incident happened at around 1.10am."
"The 25 year-old driver of the car was detained on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle and having no insurance."
