Single-vehicle road traffic incident in Formby
Firefighters were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Southport Old Road in Formby just before 12.20am on Wednesday, August 3. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service received the call at 12.09am and crews were alerted at 12.10am. they were on scene at 12.18pm. Two fire engines attended the scene, from Formby Community Fire Station and Southport Community Fire Station, together with the Search and Rescue Team. Firefighters found a vehicle in a ditch well alight when they arrived. Three occupants, two 20-year-old males and a 20-year-old female, had already exited the vehicle. The men were uninjured and the woman was checked at the scene for an injury to her shoulder by paramedics. All declined further hospital treatment. Crews used two hose reel branches to extinguish the fire. The car was severely damaged by fire and heat. Firefighters remained at the scene for around 30 minutes.
