Sinkhole Resurfaces on Kirklake Road in Formby prompting Safety Concerns
Kirklake Road is now closed in both directions from Ward Avenue to Woodlands Road.
Residents and commuters in #Formby are urged to exercise caution as a sinkhole has reappeared on Kirklake Road, posing a serious hazard to road users.
The sinkhole, located on the stretch of road towards Formby Bridge, has prompted Sefton Council to take action, with police presence now at the site to ensure public safety.
This recurrence marks the third instance on this particular stretch of road but instances of sinkholes plaguing the area, adding to the growing list of affected locations including Liverpool Road, Green Lane and Freshfield Station.
Last year in June, Kirklake Road endured a similar issue, leading to weeks of road closures while repair works were undertaken by Dowhigh.
Local authorities are working diligently to address the situation and minimise disruptions to traffic flow.
However, the persistence of sinkholes in the Formby area underscores the need for proactive measures to address underlying infrastructure concerns and ensure the safety of residents and motorists alike.
