Yobs in Formby throw slates from shop roof onto cars in the village
Cars damaged after yob attack in the village
A Formby resident said yobs tore slates from a shop roof and threw them onto cars and pedestrians.
A member of the public told the Bubble: "We saw three cars damaged. Two were very badly dented and there were broken slates all over the pavement outside Dorothy Perkins."
She went on to say: "It was so dangerous as there where cars driving through the village as the slates were being thrown so they could of easily gone through a window screen!"
The incident is said to have happened at around 7.30pm last night, on Chapel Lane in the village. A member of the public said: "five cars suffered damage, and smashed slates were left strewn over the pavement and road. Many of the cars damaged were parked near to Woodwards."
We believe it to be a Mercedes and two Audis were damaged.
The second resident, who asked not be named, said: "On leaving Woodwards at around 7.30pm we saw a group of people gathered outside Dorothy Perkins and Newlook. These people had seen youths on the roof of the above premises removing the roof slates and throwing down at passers by and parked cars in the village. Five cars were damage and there were smashed roof tiles over the pavement and in the road, fortunately no one was hit by the roof slates. I didn’t see anyone on the roof but I could see slates hanging over into the gutters of Dorothy Perkins."
A police spokesman said: "Merseyside Police can confirm officers attended Chapel Lane in Formby following a call at 8.10pm last night, Wednesday 20 January, reporting that a group of unknown youths were on the roof of a shop throwing tiles.
"A small number of cars are believed to have been damaged.
