Victoria Road car park and toilets closed as Storm Boelo brings high winds to Formby

The National Trust has announced the temporary closure of Victoria Road car park and toilet facilities in Formby as Storm Boelo brings strong winds and potentially dangerous conditions to the coastline.
Following a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office, the National Trust confirmed that Victoria Road car park and all toilet facilities would close from the afternoon of Saturday 24 October and remain closed throughout Sunday 25 October.
The decision has been taken to protect visitors, volunteers and staff from the risks associated with high winds, particularly in Formby’s woodland areas.
Essential tree safety inspections before reopening
The National Trust hopes to reopen the car park and facilities on Monday 26 October, although this will depend on weather conditions and the completion of essential safety checks.
Staff must inspect trees throughout the affected areas to identify any damage or potential hazards caused by Storm Boelo.
These inspections cannot be carried out safely until wind gusts have reduced.
Visitors warned to avoid woodland areas
Anyone planning to visit Formby’s coastline on foot during the storm is being urged to take extra care.
Visitors are advised to remain in open spaces and avoid woodland areas, where strong winds can cause branches to fall without warning and potentially affect the stability of trees.
Even after the strongest winds have passed, damaged branches and weakened trees may continue to present a danger.
When will Victoria Road car park reopen?
The National Trust is aiming to reopen Victoria Road car park and toilet facilities on Monday 26 October, provided weather conditions improve and the necessary tree safety inspections have been completed.
The National Trust has apologised for any disruption to visitors’ plans and thanked everyone for their patience and understanding.
Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
Visitors are advised to check for the latest information before travelling and avoid entering woodland areas during the severe weather.
