Train Services Disrupted After School Girl Seen Walking on Railway Tracks in Formby

Merseyrail reported at around 2:45pm this afternoon (Monday 6th October) that services on the Southport line were disrupted due to reports of a trespasser on the railway between Formby and Southport.

According to eyewitnesses, a young girl wearing a Formby High School uniform was seen climbing down onto the tracks at Formby station before walking along the railway line in the direction of Liverpool.
Police were immediately called to the scene, and train services were halted as a safety precaution. Numerous police cars attended the scene.
Officers located the girl a short time later, and it was confirmed that she was safe and unharmed. Train services resumed on the line at approximately 3:11pm.
Merseyrail has reminded the public of the serious dangers and legal consequences of trespassing on railway property.
