There were some excellent results for Formby Junior Sports Club team’s last weekend.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 13 Black’s Sunday team wentinto a must win game against Bootle FC Youth to keep their chances of winning thePremier Division title alive. The team started fast again and a well taken goal by Louis O’Connor saw FJSC go 1-0 up. A panicky fiveminutes resulted in FJSC losing their composure and two quick fire goals by Bootle suddenly saw FJSC 1-2 down. FJSC regained composure and soon equalised with another well taken goal by Louis O’Connor to make it 2-2. Louis O’Connor then gave FJSC the lead again with his hat trick goal. Bootle then equalised to make it 3-3 just before half time.
FJSC came out in the second half a much better team and limited Bootle’s chances at goal. Charlie Richardson scored to make it 4-3 after a well worked move before a good Alex Barr goal ensured a 5-3 win and the vital three points to stay top of the league.
FJSC Under 13 Black Saturday team played Lydiate and started this game at a fast pace and within the first minute took an early lead. A physical Lydiate battled well and soon equalised. In what was a well fought first half that went back and forth the half time whistle saw the teams locked at 2-2.
FJSC start the second half well again and soon took a 4-2 lead but where then pegged back by two quick Lydiate goals. FJSC pushed on for a winner and scored to make it 5-4 but again Lydiate fought back to make it 5-5. With minutes remaining FJSC took a 6-5 lead but again could not hold onto the lead with the game finishing 6-6. There were well taken goals by Caden Walker(2), Oscar Buch-Platt(1), Seb Goatley(1), Isaac Jones(1) and Charlie Richardson(1) but there is some work on defending as a team to be done in training.
FJSC Under 15’s took on Clay Brow FC in the West Lancs Junior League and after a slow start that saw them concede twice within twenty minutes FJSC took control of the game. Tom Donnelly playing a starring role with a hat trick and two assists as they overcame their opponents to win 6-3.
Yaroslav Vovnianko started the comeback with a neat finish after Tom Donnelly found him with a clever pass, and then Ben Cargill prodded the ball across the line following a Tom Donnelly corner to make it 2 -2 at half time. Tom Donnelly then scored three goals in the second half with his first coming from a Sami Abdelhamid free kick, before he created and finished his second and third goals himself with clinical shots from the edge of the area.
Ollie Dean then won a penalty as he evaded three challenges out on the wing, before his driving run was ended by a foul, and Sami Abdelhamid stepped up to score the penalty. Clay row scored one more on the break in the closing moments to make the final score 6-3 to FJSC. Player of the Match went to Tom Donnelly for an excellent and hardworking overall display.
FJSC Under 13 Whites were in action against Crosby Stuart in the
first game after the Easter break. Formby started the stronger and after a series of corners finally found a breakthrough with Zac Hooson-Jones finding a gap in a congested area to fire home. Crosby came back strong and grew in confidence as the game continued. Their attacking play was rewarded with twogoals before half time and another just after.FJSC piled on the pressure and pulled one back through Matthew Crutchley, but CrosbyStuart held on for a well-earned victory.
FJSC Under 12 Reds last game of the season saw a depleted squad take on Southport Blacks. The game started well with some really good possession play and solid tackling. Daniel Ashcroft was controlling the centre with Campbell Woodcock and Jacob Holton providing the skills out wide which created several chances but the final shot was not reflective of the build-up play. An unfortunate injury to Max Fairhurst left the team with no options from the bench and a free kick from Campbell Woodcock fizzed narrowly wide but half time came and it was 0-0.
The second half saw the boys beginning to tire but the defence was solid and Mason Todd was exceptional at right back. A long throw bounced into the area and nobody took the initiative leaving a Southport player to scorefrom close range. This is when heads usually drop but the boys fought back with renewed energy and a series of corners paid off when Jacob Holton’s centre found Chase Lowenunmarked to smash a volley home. The game became open and both teams had chances to steal a winner but it ended 1-1 which was a fair result in the end. Man of the Match was captain for the day Campbell Woodcock who led the team with confidence and never stopped running for the whole game.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks Sunday team played JFA Flamengo. Oliver Hall-Gleeson opened the scoring from an assist by Jasper House. The lead was doubled when Albie Graham presented Michael Wain with the chance to score which he did. Just before half time Flamengo pulled a goal back. Flamengo looked for the equaliser and had their chance from the penalty spot but FJSC’s goalkeeper saved the shot.
FJSC was also awarded a penalty and Michael Wain kept his cool to score and make it 3-1. The score remained the same until the end of the match. Man of the Match was Harley Evans.
The match between FJSC Under 11 Blacks and Forefield Rangers was closely contested in the opening period. Formby found some luck with a fortunate own goal from Forefield. Using the wind to their advantage FJSCcontinued to apply pressure. Alex Rowley chased down an Idris Jones through ball forcing himself past the last defender before calmly slotting the ball home. The FJSCdefence still needed to be on their guard and some good defensive play, interceptions and goalkeeping kept the score the same until half time.
Playing into the wind in the second half Formby changed formation to allow more passing attacking football. There was some brilliant team play and creativity which produced a hatful of chances. Only some excellent defending and goalkeeping and some wayward finishing kept the score from increasing. Forefield then pulled a goal back.Eventually the Blacks grabbed their deserved third goal with Ashley Jones firing into the top corner from an Ethan Catleugh corner kick. Man of the Match went to Noah Underwood for an impressive all-round display which saw him deployed at left back, centre mid and centre back. Tenacious in the tackle and calm in possession Noah really set the tempo in the second half.
