The Under 6 team played first ever competitive match and the best Inter Club session so far…

The highlight of Formby Junior Sports Club’s weekend was the Under 6 team playing their first ever competitive match. There were also some impressive wins and it saw the best Inter Club session so far as numbers continue togrow.        

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 6’s played their first ever match last Sunday in the Sefton and Knowsley Development League.   The young team played at Goals in Netherton on a 3G pitch. Their opponents were Akidemy Black.  The boys soon adapted to the new surface, played very well and had a good result which is very encouraging for the future.  Scoring for FJSC were Hudson Kenny, James McManus and Harley Stirling after excellent contributions from Johnathan McFaden, Louie Winsor and Finley Barnett.  See the team photograph above of the very happy Under 6’s at the San Siro.

FJSC Under 8 Green played some fantastic football and created lots of opportunities butfound themselves 0-3 down to Southport FC Community Yellows at half time thanks to a mercurial performance from the opposition goalkeeper. All the boys kept working hard,  continued to press and quickly scored fivegoals in the second half without reply. There were impressive performances all round, with Adam Jadid-Leech and Leo Clarke scoring the goals. Player of the Match went to Owen Harris for an indomitable performance, tackling, driving the ball forward and he was unlucky not to score, followed by some crucial saves as goalkeeper in the second half.

FJSC Under 8 Silver were in action against a strong Crosby Stuart side.  The team kept working and finished strongly, showing great energy and determination late on. Jude Lloydwas Player of the Match after some excellent dribbling and positive attacking play. JamesCurran was also outstanding, scoring an excellent hat trick to cap off a strong performance.

FJSC Under 8 Gold played Southport and Birkdale Madrid.  It was a

tough game against a well organised team. Arthur Sumpton and George Leggett scoredtwo late goals as a reward.

FJSC Under 8 White got off to a tricky start with a mistake leading to a very earlySouthport Hesketh goal. The team kept their heads up and Albie Yorke was very unlucky not to score after a superb driving dribble. Southport Hesketh scored two more goals. FJSC had many chances but came up against a superb keeper who kept rushing out to stifle their attacks. Michael Woolvine scored apenalty. During the game William Laugleyand goalkeeper Toby Woodcock worked as a defensive unit and celebrated together when stopping more goals from Southport Hesketh. It felt like FJSC would turn things around when Man of the Match Shayan Palin forced the ball over the line for a Formby goal and despite the hard work of substitute McEddyOsei Assibey it was Southport Hesketh who added to their tally before the end.

FJSC Under 8 Black took an early lead against Crosby Stuart thanks to a goal from Frankie Williamson. Despite a tough contest, goalkeeper Arthur Weir kept Formby firmly in the game with a series of brilliant first-half saves, earning himself a well-deserved Player of the Match award.  Ultimately, the opposition’s experience proved decisive in the second half, securing them a clear victory.

FJSC Under 9 Whites Saturday team played a well organised Silcox Villa team.  Archie Parrish scored FJSC’s only goal but it wasSilcox Villa who gained the upper hand on this occasion.

FJSC Under 10 Whites had a very exciting encounter with a very good Southport and Ainsdale Blue team. It was a performance full of character, effort and plenty of positives.One goal each from Cian O’Farrell and Anders Carter gave FJSC the perfect start. S.and A. came back with three goals.  FJSC then equalised and took the lead with two goals from Harry Brown.  With the last kick of the match S. and A equalised with an absolute wonderful goal.  It was a fantastic match.  Man of the Match was Jack Kefford who was brilliant both defence and in midfield.

FJSC Under 10 Gold’s opponents were also a Southport and Ainsdale team.  Every squad member played to the best of their ability in pursuit of their first win. They fought for each other and managed to break down a resolute S.& A. team late in the first half when a long ball from James Williams was chased down by Ronnie Dempsey who found the bottom corner to see his team go into the break 1 nilahead.

The Gold team came out in the second half with Hugo Byford making an outstanding save to keep FJSC ahead at one nil. This proved decisive as soon after Ronnie Dempseythundered in a free kick.

The defensive pairing of Moses Odeh and James Williams managed to keep the opposition at bay.   Cody Fry and PercyBanister broke up the play finding flying wingers Albie Thornberry and Zach Sampsonwho worked exceptionally hard.  To round off an excellent team effort Ronnie Dempsey completed his hat trick to seal the first victoryof the season for FJSC Under 10 Gold.

FJSC Under 10 Reds played their first game of the season at home against Southport Trinity Blues. The Reds started well with Ed Makinson running down the right wing and crossing for Toby Parker to despatch at the far post.  The Reds continued to press forward and the pressure told after a neat corner from Kristian Tyacke was back heeled into the goal by Ray Burnett.  After more Reds pressure Ed Makinson picked a loose ball up on the half way line and dribbled past two players before neatly side footing his shot in to the left corner of the goal.  Trinity then pulled one back before half time via an own goal.

The Reds started well again at the start of the second half and created four one on one situations. Some good goalkeeping and some early season rustiness from the Reds meant that the game remained 3-1 with 15 minutes to go. The Reds finally managed to convert their superiority with a fine goal from Toby Parker. The Reds entered the last ten minutes stillahead but a penalty scored by Trinity andanother quick goal meant that the last few minutes were played out in a frenzied atmosphere.  FJSC Reds held on and were deserved winners. Man of the Match wasKristian Tyacke.

FJSC Under 10 Blacks and S. and A Whites played out a goalless first half despite their being chances for both teams.  The deadlock finally came in the second half with an error from FJSC which S.& A. capitalised on giving them the lead.  Undeterred the Blacks kept pressing forward in search of the equaliser and had plenty of shots but couldn’t score.  Man of the Match was William Kenny who went in goal and and made many fine saves.

FJSC Under 12 Black played Rainhill Rocketsin a reverse of the fixture last week that saw a 1-1 draw.  Rainhill came out strong and put pressure on the FJSC goal, before momentum switched and saw Formby the more likely to score before half time.  Neither team managed a break through and it was goalless at half time.

The lucky breaks just wouldn’t come Formby’s way and despite some wonderful saves from Max Byford in the second half Rainhill were first to follow up and capitalise ultimately running out worthy 4 nil winners.  It was an uncharacteristic display from FJSC Black and one to learn from for the season ahead.  Man of the Match was Max Byford who produced a string of top class saves from one v ones, free kicks, and drew praise from the opposition managers as well.

FJSC Under 13 White Saturday played FCN Panthers and got off to a great start, with Sonny Callister opening the scoring early on.  The second half saw another goal in the 42nd minute, with Paddy O’Callaghan showing great composure to nutmeg the goalkeeper and double the lead.  The team continued to push forward, and in the 61st minute, Zack Cooper produced a powerful strike that went straight through the goalkeeper’s gloves and into the net for a well-deserved 3 nil win.  Man of the Match was Jaiden Crosby for a solid and composed performance.  It was a great all-round team performance, with goals, assists, strong defending and plenty of hard work throughout.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team had a very good 2 nil win against Kingsway.

On Sunday Under 13 Whites produced a superb display of character to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory over Muniflex Juniors, overcoming a half-time deficit.

FJSC had started brightly and their pressure was rewarded after twenty minutes following a frantic passage of play.  Brody Davidson tried his luck from distance and, when the Muniflex goalkeeper failed to hold his effort, Sonny Callister was quickest to react. His follow-up was parried before Brody Davidson saw another close-range attempt stopped on the line. The ball remained alive, however, and Callum Mannix showed excellent composure to side-foot into the bottom-right corner.  The lead lasted only three minutes when Muniflexdrew level and then took the lead before half time.

Second-half goals from Kayden Watters and Paddy O’Callaghan completed a memorable comeback, while goalkeeper Kaspa Bailey produced an outstanding performance at the other end and was the Player of the Match.

FJSC Under 13 Black won 3-1 against Formby Wanderers.

FJSC Under 13 Green lost 4 nil away at Southport FC Community Yellow.  

FJSC  Under 13 Gold played well against Southport Black despite the wind and rain.The Golds dominated and had some great chances but were unable to convert. A couple of penalty claims were waived away in the second half and then the team was unlucky to concede from a corner after solid defending throughout the game. FJSC pushed for a late equaliser but ran out of time. Man of the Match was Lucas Firth.

With the luck of the draw FJSC Under 14 Black drew a very good Whiston FC in the first round of the Liverpool CFA Sunday Cup .FJSC started brightly and battled well all over the pitch. At 0-0 a good opportunity fell FJSC’s way in a 1 on 1 but unfortunately could not be finished. Just before half-time Whiston took a 1-0 lead. Into the second half FJSC created chances for an equaliser but just could not find the back of the net and with a few minutes left as FJSC pushed on Whiston broke to seal a 2-0 win. There were a lot of positives to take away for FJSC with how they played and the desire and commitment they showed throughout the game.

FJSC Under 14 Black played Rainford Rangers in the first round of the SaturdayLiverpool County Cup. The game started well for FJSC who for the first ten minutes showed desire, commitment and endeavour as they raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Ellis Coyne, Josh Burr and Louis Evans. After taking a 3-0 lead FJSC took their foot of the pedal and allowed Rainford a route back in with a breakaway goal from our own corner. After that the game became a struggle for FJSC with a very slow pace. In the second half the slowness continued but goals from Louis Goodman and Isaac Jones secured the win and a place in the next round.

FJSC Under 15 Black Saturday team very narrowly lost 4-3 to Berkley FC.

FJSC Under 15 Black suffered a narrow 3-2defeat to Silcox Villa. Despite being on the wrong end of the score line, there were many positives to take from the match. The teamplayed some good football which enabled them to open up the opposition - in doing socreating countless chances. There were a number of strong performances, with the front three looking dangerous. Fabian Reilly and Jenson Heron scored.  The boys are listening and taking on board the ideas around playing early and also trying to retain possession, rather than panic and going long too early. Man of the Match was Oskar Wood for a commanding performance at centre back.

FJSC Under16s took part in the LCFA County Cup on Sunday and faced a tough draw away atSilcoxVilla FC.FJSC started well, pressing from the front at every opportunity and their pressure paid off when Ethan Murphy collected a through ball on the edge of the penalty area and hit a powerful drive into the top corner to put FJSC one nil up.  SilcoxVilla equalised and then went ahead soon after before extending their lead just before half time. In the second halfSilcoxscored again and eventually won 6-1.

INTER CLUB SECTION

All the Inter Club footballers enjoyed a fun filled Saturday morning with some exciting and entertaining matches.  Scoring the goals last Saturday were – Freddie Wright, Cody Shalliker, Johnathan McFadden, Louie Winsor, Hudson Kenny , James McManus, James Curran, Frankie Williamson, Vincent Toth, Kayden Dowdall, Toby Woodcock,George Guy, Carter Eadie, Ted Middleton, Theo Dunn, Harley Rae, James Crail, Archie Marron, Albie York, Chase Lowen andWilliam Gregory.

All group sessions will comprise of coaching followed by a fun match.  There is a £3 charge each Saturday for coaching. Please arrive ten minutes before start time and give your name in for the register.
