Formby Village is set to welcome an exciting new addition this autumn, as a long-empty building is given a stunning transformation. The site, previously home to Riva Bar, has been closed for many years — but behind the scenes, it is now being lovingly brought back to life.
The new venue will not open until October, with the delay down to the extensive renovation work needed after the property had stood empty for so long. The owner, who is very much hands-on in the refurbishment, has been working tirelessly alongside local traders to restore the space and create something truly special for our community.
Although details are being kept tightly under wraps, here’s what we can reveal so far…
By day: A chic French Patisserie and Bakery, complete with a Gelato counter and a Juice Bar. Coffee lovers will also be delighted to hear that the bar will serve from a sought-after La Marzocco machine, using beans from Neighbourhood Coffee, a highly regarded local Merseyside roaster.
By night: The venue will transform into a stylish licensed lounge bar, offering small plates, a relaxing atmosphere, leather seating and elegant lighting — the perfect setting for evenings out in the village.
Event space: Upstairs, there will also be a private hire function area, ideal for birthdays, funerals, and all kinds of occasions.
The owner is no stranger to hospitality, having previously managed Michelin-starred restaurants and bringing with them many years of experience in the industry. With such an impressive background, residents can expect a high-end venue that blends quality, style and comfort.
This is only the beginning of the story — more details will be shared as the opening date approaches. For now, we can all look forward to October when Formby Village gains what promises to be a truly standout new destination.
