In Memory of Janet Basu née Palmer

We are saddened to share the news that, following a truly courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Janet Basu née Palmer passed away peacefully on Thursday 20th August 2026.
An adored mother, grandmother and sister, Janet will be remembered with great love for the passion and dedication she brought to everything she did.
Throughout her life, she made a lasting difference to so many through her teaching, charity fundraising and her remarkable work establishing the Justice and Peace Group at Christ The King School. She was also immensely creative, producing incredible artistic works, and found great joy in gardening and, of course, baking.
Janet was an extraordinary and impressive woman whose fortitude, determination and courage were admired by all who knew her. She was a very special lady who will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Janet’s life will be held at 11am on Saturday 10th October at Sacred Heart Church, Ainsdale.
At Janet’s own request, those attending are asked to wear normal clothes and no black.
In lieu of flowers, a collection will be taken following the Mass, with donations being shared between St Patrick’s Missionary Society and the Mill Hill Missionary Society.

Our thoughts are with Janet’s family, friends and all those whose lives she touched.
