Ongoing Incident: Police Close Formby Bypass and Scaffold Lane After Serious Motorbike Crash

ree

A man has been taken to hospital following a serious incident on Scaffold Lane near Ince Woods this morning, Friday 11th July.

At approximately 7:40am, emergency services were called to reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a motorbike on Scaffold Lane. The rider, a man who has not yet been identified, was treated at the scene and subsequently taken to hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

The crash occurred next to woodland near Ince Woods, and the area remains cordoned off with police tape. Pictures from the scene show numerous police vehicles and two vans parked within the sealed-off area, indicating a significant ongoing police presence.

As a result of the incident, Scaffold Lane is closed between Long Lane and Lady Green Lane, and the Formby Bypass has also been closed in both directions from the Shell garage heading towards Ince Woods.

🔴 No traffic is able to pass through Ince Woods into or out of Formby, causing heavy congestion and traffic backing up to the roundabout near the bypass.

🚗 Alternative routes currently open:

➡️ Left through Ince Blundell (Lady Green)

➡️ Right down Orrell Hill Lane towards Little Crosby at the lights

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area, as significant delays are expected throughout the morning.

Merseyside Police and other emergency services remain on the scene, and investigations are ongoing. The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.

Formby Bubble will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

One ambulance - ONE - but at least 20 cars - flashing police lights screaming past me, through the middle of dense traffic in the direction of Southport - god help anyone who couldn't get out of their way - they were taking no prisoners. It was ONE motorcyclist? They caused traffic chaos for ONE bike?

No information was forthcoming, no advice about alternative routes, just drink your tea and think how important you are to have a car with flashing lights, and you can shut as many roads as you like, because who is going to stop you? The poor man in the ambulance - I hope he is OK.

There were actually 2 advanced paramedic vehicles there as well as the regular ambulance, you obviously didn't see those and thought they were rozzers. 20 vehicles is a somewhat wild exaggeration!. Suggest you watch some of Ashley Neil's driving awareness videos on YouTube, gives good advice on how to deal with emergency vehicles, you seems to have issues with them.
