New Sainsbury’s Local has officially opened its doors in Formby

The wait is finally over as the brand new Sainsbury’s Local has officially opened its doors on Liverpool Road in Formby today, Thursday 24th September.

Formby Bubble went inside the new store today for a first look and the transformation of the former gym site is impressive. The new shop is bright, spacious and modern, with a wide range of everyday groceries, fresh and chilled food, drinks, household essentials, toiletries, snacks and flowers.

There are also several extra facilities that will be particularly useful for local residents.

Argos collection point

The new store has its own Argos collection point, allowing customers to order items online and collect them conveniently while visiting Sainsbury’s.

The collection point also displays Habitat and Tu branding.

Costa Coffee machine

Customers can pick up a Costa coffee while shopping, with a self service Costa machine inside the store. Regular hot drinks are also included in the store’s advertised meal deals.

National Lottery

The new Sainsbury’s includes National Lottery facilities, giving customers another convenient location in Formby to purchase tickets.

Self service tills

There are two self service tills situated close to the entrance and exit, providing a quick option for customers making smaller purchases.

Free cash machine

A free to use cash machine has been installed outside the front of the store, offering free cash withdrawals.

Electric vehicle charging

The car park also includes an electric vehicle charging bay directly outside the store. The charger is marked as providing up to 22kW.

There are dedicated disabled parking spaces close to the entrance, cycle parking and pedestrian access directly into the store.

One hour free customer parking

Customers should be aware that the new car park is controlled by cameras and has a maximum stay of one hour.

The signs state that customers receive one hour of free parking, with no return within one hour.

ANPR cameras are being used to record vehicle number plates and calculate the length of stay.

The signage warns motorists to observe the parking conditions to avoid a £100 parking charge notice, so customers should make sure they are aware of the restrictions when using the car park.

Blue Badge holders are also advised to check the conditions displayed on the signs.

Open from 7am until 11pm every day

The new Sainsbury’s Local will be open seven days a week from 7am until 11pm, providing early morning and late evening shopping throughout the week.

The opening marks the completion of a major transformation for the Liverpool Road building, which many residents will remember as LA Fitness and, more recently, Everlast Gym.

After months of construction work, recruitment and anticipation, the doors are finally open and residents can now see the finished store for themselves.

The addition of an Argos collection point, Costa Coffee machine, National Lottery facilities, free cash machine, electric vehicle charging, customer parking and extended opening hours makes this much more than simply another convenience store for this part of Formby.
