Message from Labour Councillor Nina Killen regarding the travellers at Deansgate

The eviction of travellers from Deansgate Lane field Formby by Sefton Council is progressing as quickly as possible and I expect this to be concluded more quickly than first thought, which was 10-14 days from arrival last Monday.

In the next few weeks I will meet with council officers and residents to discuss ways to make the park more secure to stop encampments in the future. We did this at Duke St Park in recent years and so far have had no return there.

There are various reasons why we don't have more transit sites for travellers in Sefton, including lack of available land outside the green belt. It is covered in page 102 of the local plan here https://t.co/gfdmNVRFcs
