Major Phone and Broadband Outage in the Wicks Crescent area of Formby
TalkTalk / Openreach Network Affected
Formby Bubble has just been made aware of a major service outage currently affecting residents in and around Wicks Crescent.
The issue has been confirmed by TalkTalk and is linked to a wider fault (Ref: REP-15808957) currently impacting over 630 services in the area. The fault is being handled by Openreach, but the repair date has repeatedly been pushed back, with the latest estimated fix date now set for Thursday 25th July 2025.
Worryingly, incoming callers can leave voicemail messages — but these messages do not come through, meaning customers may be unaware that their phone line or broadband is even affected. If you’re in the area and use TalkTalk, you may wish to check your landline or broadband connection and notify vulnerable neighbours.
This fault was only discovered by chance — many local residents may still be unaware.
We advise customers to contact TalkTalk directly if affected.
TalkTalk have confirmed: “The fault linked to REP-15808957 is associated with a major outage affecting 633 services. The target fix date provided by Openreach is 25/07/2025. Please reply to this message and one of the team will be on hand to chat with you.”

Please check in with elderly neighbours or those without mobile internet — they may not realise their landline is down.
We’ll update you here on Formby Bubble if anything changes.
