For many local people, seeing the shutters come down at Bananas Tattoo on Church Road may have felt like the end of an era.

Thankfully, it is anything but.
After 16 memorable years in the heart of Formby Village, one of the country’s most decorated tattoo studios has simply moved to a new home at Victoria Buildings on Victoria Road, beginning an exciting new chapter while remaining proudly part of the Formby community.

Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Dan and Olga Banas, Bananas Tattoo has quietly built a reputation that stretches far beyond Merseyside.
What started as a local studio has become an internationally recognised name, with clients travelling from across the UK and overseas to be tattooed by the award winning artists.
Announcing the move on Instagram, Olga shared an emotional farewell to the Church Road studio that had been their home since the business first opened…

“After 16 amazing years, it’s time to say goodbye to the studio that’s been our home since 2010. These walls have seen thousands of tattoos, countless laughs, unforgettable memories and so many wonderful people. This place helped build our business, and we’ll always be grateful for everyone who’s been part of the journey.”
She was also keen to reassure customers that this was not the end.
“We’re not closing. We’re simply starting a brand new chapter, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
Over the past 16 years, Dan and Olga have built an incredible reputation on the international tattoo circuit. Their exceptional work has earned awards at some of the world’s most prestigious tattoo conventions, including victories in Canada, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Northern Ireland and across the United Kingdom.
Among their achievements are Best Portrait titles at both the Manchester Tattoo Convention and the Vancouver Tattoo Show in Canada, Best Black and Grey awards in Manchester, Bergen and Helsinki, along with major honours for portrait work, large colour tattoos, Crazy Tattoo and Tattoo of the Day at conventions across Europe and North America.
In total, the Formby studio has collected an incredible 16 major international awards, an achievement that places Bananas Tattoo among the most successful tattoo studios in the country and has helped put Formby firmly on the map within the tattoo industry.

Behind those awards are thousands of individual works of art and countless loyal customers who have supported the business since it first opened in 2010. For many local residents, Bananas Tattoo has been the place where they have marked life’s biggest moments, while others have travelled hundreds of miles specifically to be tattooed by Dan and Olga.
Although the familiar Church Road premises have now closed, the story is far from over. Bananas Tattoo remains proudly based in Formby and is looking forward to welcoming both existing and new clients to its new studio at Victoria Buildings on Victoria Road.
It is always fantastic to see a long established independent business continue to grow while staying in the village it has proudly called home for the past 16 years.
Everyone at Formby Bubble wishes Dan, Olga and the entire Bananas Tattoo team every success in their new premises. We have no doubt the next chapter will be every bit as successful as the last.
