Frank Rourke's Report from Formby Junior Sports Club

Easter Saturday’s Formby Junior Sports Clubs session for the Inter Club footballers was enjoyed by all those who were able to come along. It was a lovely spring morning at Deansgate Lane Playing Fields as the very enthusiastic boys took part in the fun coaching and friendly matches. Next weekend the FJSC Representative teams will be back in action. For many teams it will be the last league fixture of the eight month long season. Inter Club will continue until 7th May and some teams during this time may also arrange friendlies or start to sort out their squads for the new season which will start again in September.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM FOOTBALL

FJSC’s Under 7’s took part in the Easter Tournament held in Burscough. After finishing fourth in their group the Under 7’s qualified for the ‘ Europa League’ trophy and played brilliantly to reach the final but narrowly lost 3-2. It was a very good effort by all the boys who were playing in their first ever tournament. See the photograph above of the very happy squad.

INTER CLUB SECTION

The Year 6/7 Inter Club match saw the Blue team win 4-1 against the Orange team. Abe Rice with two goals, Ollie Dean and Luke Patel scored for the winners whilst Samuel Lewis was on target with a goal for the Oranges. The Year 4/5 match had nine goals with the Yellows defeating the Reds. The goals were scored by Ben Harris, Dylan Hyslop, and Zac Hooson-Jones.

INTER CLUB NEWS FOR PRE SCHOOL CHILDREN

Saturday, 23rd April children who are pre-school age (four years of age) are invited to attend at 10.45 to 11.45am for coaching and a fun game of football. These taster sessions are free of charge.

REMAINING INTER CLUB SESSIONS THIS SEASON

There are still three Saturday Inter Clubs this season.

Weather permitting Inter Club will be on the following days :–

April 23rd, 30th and the final Saturday of the season 7th May.

NEW PLAYERS NEEDED FOR NEXT SEASON’S UNDER 13’S

THIS SEASON’S FJSC UNDER 12’S TEAM WHO PLAY ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS WILL BE MOVING UP TO 11 ASIDE FOOTBALL NEXT SEASON FROM SEPTEMBER AND ARE LOOKING TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF THEIR SQUADS. IF INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT FRANK ROURKE at stellathecat4@gmail.com
