Frank Rourke's Report from Formby Junior Sports Club

Only one Formby Junior Sports Club match was played at the weekend due to Storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin. The match that was played was on an artificial playing surface and only went ahead as there was a lull in the weather on Sunday morning. The lucky boys to have a match were FJSC’s Under 6’s.
The FJSC Under 6 team played Northfield Yellow in the Sefton Development Junior Football League. It proved to be a great match. In the opening third Harrison Weir and Jacob Givin scored one goal each before Northfield scored twice to level the scoreline. The second period was just as closely contested until Matthew Miles scored to give FJSC a slender lead going into the final third of the match. Northfield Yellows equalised and it looked like this thrilling match was heading towards a draw. However with the very last kick of the game a strike from Harrison Weir gave his team a dramatic victory. There were sparking scenes of celebration from the boys. Congratulations goes to both teams for playing so well in difficult conditions. The FJSC man of the match award was equally shared by all six members of the squad namely Finley Duffin, Archie Phenna, Matthew Miles, Harrison Weir, Oliver Parrish and Jacob Givin.
