Frank Rourke's Report from Formby Junior Sports Club
Torrential rain, waterlogged and squelchy pitches put paid to nearly all football for Formby Junior Sports Club last weekend. Inter Club was cancelled and just three Representative team matches went ahead as planned.
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 16’s played away on Saturday against Crosby Stuart. With only nine players available for the fixture all the boys made a determined effort in very difficult weather conditions against a strong Crosby Stuart team. Every boy played well but the odds were unfortunately always stacked against them and eventually numerical advantage went in favour of their opponents and the Under 16’s lost 5-2. The passing was good and the team was rewarded with two well-taken goals both scored by Kyle Phillips.
FJSC Under 12 Blacks were in action on Sunday and entertained Southport Trinity. Dominic Maxwell scored twice in the first half but Trinity pulled a goal back two minutes before the interval. FJSC quickly extended their lead early in the second half with two goals in the space of four minutes from Luca Massey. Now with a comfortable advantage the Under 12’s managed the rest of the match very well to record a 4-1 win. After eleven matches played FJSC are in second position in the Premier Division.
FJSC Under 6’s played new team Litherland with just the necessary five players and no substitutes. Three short sessions were played with FJSC leading the way in each period with goals from Harrison Weir, Archie Phenna, Matthew Miles and Finley Duffin. Oliver Parrish, Harrison Weir and Archie Phenna shared the goalkeeping and all played well. It was a very good FJSC team performance and the Litherland boys are also to congratulated for playing so well in their first ever match.
