Residents have been left without a cash machine in the village after the ATM at the Post Office on Brows Lane was removed.
The machine, which was widely used by shoppers and local businesses, has now been taken out, meaning there is currently no cashpoint available within the village itself.
A spokesperson for the Post Office said: “The ATM was not a Post Office ATM and it was not our decision to remove it. Customers can withdraw cash at the Post Office counter.”

At present, the nearest alternatives are at Waitrose and the One Stop on Cross Green, which may prove inconvenient for many residents, particularly those who rely on easy access to cash.
The removal has sparked concern locally, although there is some hope that the situation may only be temporary. The space where the machine was previously located has been boarded up, with wood covering the opening and bars visible on the inside, suggesting that work may be ongoing.
Residents will be hoping this indicates that a replacement machine could be installed in the near future. Fingers crossed but we will keep you updated.
