A mother and her daughter from #Formby were at the centre of a dramatic mid-air incident on a Tui flight from Manchester to Jamaica last month, resulting in an unscheduled emergency landing in Canada.
The incident took place on 28th May and was captured in a video that quickly spread across social media, drawing widespread attention. According to Mail Online, the two women, including one identified as Angel, had reportedly been drinking heavily prior to the flight and soon found themselves embroiled in a loud and abusive confrontation with airline staff.

Passenger Mandy, who recounted the ordeal, said tensions were already high before boarding even began. Witnesses say the pair had been arguing in the departure lounge, setting the stage for what would become an unforgettable flight.
Once on board, their behaviour only worsened. Reports suggest the mother and daughter accessed alcohol from the plane’s duty-free selection and proceeded to drink openly throughout the journey. Despite numerous warnings and interventions by the cabin crew, the pair continued to shout, swear and create a scene that left fellow passengers visibly shaken.

As their behaviour grew more aggressive, the captain had no choice but to prioritise the safety and comfort of everyone on board by diverting the aircraft to Canada. Upon landing, police officers swiftly boarded the plane and arrested the mother first, before escorting the daughter off as well. Passengers can be heard applauding as the officers removed the disruptive pair, bringing a sense of relief to everyone on board.
One passenger described the scene as “like something out of a movie,” with cheers erupting as order was finally restored. Others praised the flight crew for their professionalism and for handling such a volatile situation with calm and decisive action.
The flight, which had been scheduled to land in Jamaica at around 1:30pm, eventually arrived at its destination after 7:30pm, more than six hours behind schedule.
While this incident was undoubtedly distressing for those on board, we want to reassure our readers that it bears no reflection on the wonderful community of Formby.
