Formby Junior Sports Clubs Under 15’s and Under 14 Blacks win again to maintain their excellent starts to the season. There were also good team displays from FJSC’s Under 9 Blacks and Under 8 Whites. At Inter Club new members continue to join at all age groups as FJSC membership reaches over three hundred.
FJSC REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES
FJSC Under 15 Blacks had a good win on Sunday against Crosby Stuart FC, after scoring nine goals and keeping a clean sheet. The first half saw Ethan Richmond open the scoring by clipping in a shot from out wide, before Joe Norrie scored twice at the back post as he was on hand to turn in blocked shots, first from Ollie Dean and then from YaroslavVovnianko to give FJSC a three-nil lead at half time.
In the second half, Abe Rice created and scored a goal with a shot from outside the penalty area, before he turned provider to set up Yaroslav who scored with a well struck volley. Tom Donnelly and Ben Cargill powered forward from midfield and after a strong run from Ben, he found Evan Hughes on the wing whose deflected shot went in at the far post. From an Ethan Richmond corner the ball fell to Ollie Dean who scored from close range, and then Abe Rice set up Ethan Murphy who dribbled into the box and scored from a tight angle. Evan Hughes then scoredhis second goal of the game, turning smartly on the edge of the box and firing past the keeper to seal a 9 nil win.
Special mention to the defence who were rewarded with their first clean sheet of the season, and some stand out performances from Riley Higgs in goal, Sami Abdelhamid, Ethan Tucker, Noah Ratnasingham, Henry Todd and Charlie Knowles.
FJSC Under 14 Blacks scored 12 goals without reply in both their weekend matches. On Saturday there were five different scorersin the match against Maghull Blue. Fabian Reilly scored four times. There were hat tricks for Will Madutlela and Ben Harris plus one goal each for Connor Howells and Zak Healy.
The Sunday Under 14 Blacks defeated Clay Brow Rangers by the same score. Once again Fabian Reilly hit four goals. Ben Harris scored another hat trick. Harry Redhead scored a brace and there was one goal apiece for Connor Howells, Will Madutlela and Oskar Wood.
FJSC Under 14 Whites put up a great performance against joint top of the league Southport Trinity and were unlucky not to get anything out of the match. Evan Meehan scored with a good finish and Luca Duncalfwas also a scorer after a great bit of determination from Dylan Hyslop to get an assist. Luck did not go the way of the Whites with two penalties unfortunately missed. However the team can be very proud of themselves for playing some of their best football of the season so far.
FJSC Under 12 Whites continued their fine run of form on Saturday with a convincing 7–1 victory over FCFC Falcons although it didn’t all go their way early on. The team started slowly, struggling to find their rhythm in the opening stages and conceding an early goal against the run of play.
The setback seemed to spark FJSC into life. Gradually, they began to take control of possession, moving the ball with purpose and confidence. The midfield started to dominate, linking up neatly with the forwards and stretching the FCFC defence. Once the equaliser came, there was no looking back. Kayden Watters led the charge with a well-taken hat-trick, showing great composure in front of goal and a real poacher’s instinct. Not to be outdone, Frankie Carroll produced a dazzling performance, scoring four times and causing constant problems with his movement and finishing.
By the second half, FJSC were firmly in control — passing crisply, pressing high, and playing some excellent attacking football. The defence, after that early lapse, stood solid and limited FCFC to very few chances. It was a commanding team performance overall, full of character, energy and attacking quality — one that will give the players plenty of confidence going forward.
FJSC Under 12 Whites Sunday team were left frustrated after a dramatic finish saw RedgateRovers Yellows snatch a 2–2 draw with the final kick of the game. FJSC started brightly and controlled large periods of the match, moving the ball well and creating a number of chances. Their dominance was rewarded with two well-taken goals, both the product of sharp attacking play and patient build-up. At 2–0 thanks to goals from Diego Funes-Cerveraand Huey Stevenson, they looked comfortable and in full control, with the defence largely untroubled and the midfield dictating the tempo.
However, the inability to turn possession into a decisive third goal left the door open for Redgate, who gradually worked their way back into the contest. As fatigue set in, FJSC began to sit deeper, allowing Redgate to press forward. The visitors pulled one goal back to make it 2–1, setting up a tense finale.
Despite some heroic defending in the closing stages, FJSC couldn’t quite see it out. Deep into stoppage time, Redgate were awarded a penalty, which they converted with the very last kick of the game to level the score.
It was a tough ending for FJSC White, who had produced so much good football for most of the match. Still, there were plenty of positives to take — particularly the fluid attacking play and work rate throughout the team — even if the result ultimately felt like two points dropped rather than one gained.
FJSC Under 12 Red started well against Southport and Birkdale with some good passing and attacking from the boys but they were unlucky to concede a goal on the break. Jacob Holton and Dan Ashcroft came close to equalising but S&B showed their quality throughout and were able to score goals seemingly at will.
The second half saw a debut for Frank Kulazinski who worked hard and showed glimpses of what he can bring to the team but Formby were just not able to get a foothold in the game. S&B were 7-0 up catching the Redson the counter regularly. Formby got a goal back as Jacob Holton scored straight from a corner. Unfortunately S&B countered again and slotted their 8th. A late penalty was saved by Brett McKeown but it was a disappointing performance all round. Joel Craven was Man of the Match for a solid defensive display.
FJSC Under 11 Blacks produced a tremendous display to overcome Netherton Lions in an exciting encounter. The team made a quick start with the breakthrough coming from Alex Rowley after an Idris Jones clever throw-in . Alex then doubled the lead, this time finishing coolly after a smart assist from Isaac Melton. With confidence flowing, Jack Hansen made it three with a half volley using lovely technique following a Noah Underwood assist. Noah was again involved setting up Alex for his hat-trick. Netherton scored from a penalty before half -time.
Netherton started the second half strong pulling a couple of goals back before the alertAshley Jones scored from a rebound followingan Idris Jones free-kick. Asher Fields then set up Noah Underwood to extend the lead, before Ashley Jones rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot.
Throughout the game, Noah Underwood was at the heart of everything positive — breaking up play, driving the team forward, and linking attacks. His relentless work rate and intelligent play earned him the Man of the Match award. It was a complete team performance being strong defensively, inventive in attack, and clinical in front of goal. It was a result that will give the team real momentum heading into their next fixture.
The FJSC Under 11 Gold team looked fantastic in their brand-new kits and matched the sharp look with a brilliant team performance against Southport Athletic Red. There was plenty of effort, teamwork, and determination on show, and the improvement across the pitch was clear to see. FJSC’s goal came from a Charlie Herbert
shot after some great attacking play. Player of the Match was Lewis McColl for his outstanding energy and effort all game. The Coach’s Medal went to Peter McCormick for his brilliant attitude, teamwork, and commitment.
FJSC Under 10 Blacks faced a tough challenge against a strong Southport FC Community side, who showed their quality from the very start. Southport’s slick passing, quick movement, and individual skill allowed them to cut through the FJSC defence and build up a commanding lead. Despite the score line, the FJSC boys never stopped battling. They worked tirelessly across the pitch, showing determination and teamwork throughout.
The second half saw a much-improved performance, with FJSC creating several chances that, on another day, might have found the net. Unfortunately, the ball just didn’t fall their way, and they couldn’t convert their efforts into goals.
There were plenty of positives to take, including a standout performance from the FJSC goalkeeper, who pulled off some excellent saves to keep his team in the game. The boys gave absolutely everything right up to the final whistle. Progress might be gradual, but it’s clear that every player is improving each week and their effort and attitude continue to impress.
FJSC Under 10 Whites played really well against Southport Trinity Whites and were very unlucky not to even the score with some great shots on target. Goalkeeper Teddy Millswas absent so Joseph Elsey stepped up and took his place. Joseph was great and made some excellent saves.
Oliver Parrish, Michael Moses and TheoCavanagh were once again solid in defence and Joshua Gillespie and Austin Faraday worked hard down the wings and didn’t give up. Elliott Dyment was the team’s loan striker and although he didn’t score he very nearly did on more than one occasion. The Whites had no available substitutes so all the boys had to play the full match. The effort made was exceptional and everyone was really proud of how all the boys gave it everything. Man of the Match wen to Joshua Gillespie for scoringan amazing hat trick which was well deserved.
FJSC Under 9 Blacks following a week off played away at Southport Athletic Blacks. Both teams started well with early pressure. FJSC’s Ted Middleton was unlucky several times not to find the back of the net. The Blacks soon found a way through and the deadlock was broken when a well taken corner by Sam O’Brien found Isaac Murphy who slotted home. Southport Athletic were quick to counter and an unfortunate handball in the box gave Southport a penalty. Despitegoalkeeper Harley Rea diving the right way and getting a hand to the ball it just wasn’t enough to stop it finding the back of the netfor the equaliser.
The Blacks came back strongly in the second half with constant pressure on the Southport Athletic goal. From another FJSC cornerTeddy Ball found the back of the net with a well taken goal. With little time left to play a well-placed ball found James Taylor who scored for the second game in a row to make the result safe in FJSC’s favour. Man of the Match went to Teddy Ball for constant battling down the wing and also to Ted Middleton for his tenacious spirit and tireless non-stop running. See photo above.
FJSC Under 9 Reds played out an extremely competitive derby with FJSC Whites. No quarter was given and both teams played good football during a tense first half. Alex Kirkby playing in an unfamiliar left sided position excelled throughout repelling the Whites strong right side while also starting numerous attacks.
The second half started in the same vein with Ray Burnett making his debut for the Reds continuing to impress in his midfield role. Lucas Kelly continued his dominant defensive display during the second half as the Whites attacks continued. The Whites eventually opened the scoring with a tremendous strike from outside the area. Despite this setback the Reds went close on a number of occasions and nearly scored at the back post in the dying minutes. It was a superb team effort by the Reds and a Man of the Match performance by Alex Kirkby.
FJSC Under 8 Blacks had a tough matchagainst a very strong Southport FC team. Even though the boys went in at half time a few goals down it did not reflect the first halfeffort by the Blacks who also had some good chances as well. The second half was even with Jonas Ebo and Ollie Jones scoring one goal each. Man of the Match was goalkeeper Albee Fairhurst who made a string of fine saves and confidently commanded his goal area. Ollie Jones also led by example with his usual committed display.
FJSC Under 8 Whites team played brilliantly against Hesketh Bank Rangers showing great progression from goalkeeper through defence and into attack. The passing and teamworkwas fantastic throughout, with everyone contributing to a really strong performance.
Special mention goes to Corey Flynn, who was outstanding and fully deserved his Man of the Match award. Playing out from defence, Corey drove the team forward with confidence and skill, capping off his display with a superb first half hat trick. There were also excellent goals from Jimmy Duckworth, Sammy Porter, and Cian O’Farrell, rounding off a dominant attacking performance.
Tom Babun impressed with his brilliant dribbling down the wing, constantly creating chances and stretching the opposition. JackKefford showed clever distribution, linking play superbly from midfield. Anders Carterwas rock solid at the back, reading the game well and making some key interceptions.Overall, it was a really good team effort with solid passing, great movement, and brilliant attitude from start to finish. Well done everyone.
