Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 10 Blacks won their first ever match at the weekend

ree

Formby Junior Sports Club’s Under 10 Blacks won their first ever match at the weekend and FJSC Under 14 Whites recorded their first win of the season.  Congratulations to both teams on this achievement.

REPRESENTATIVE TEAM MATCHES

FJSC Under 10 Blacks finally broke their duck with a gritty 2–1 win over Southport Trinity Yellow. Two evenly matched sides served up a tight, breathless contest. FJSC started on the front foot, carving out early chances, but a swift Trinity break saw the hosts lead inside five minutes. Unfazed, FJSC kept pressing and earned a deserved equaliser before the interval scored by Theo Richards.

The match swung end to end, with FJSC creating the clearer openings, only to be denied time and again by a superb Trinity keeper who pulled off a string of outstanding saves. Shortly after half-time, a SouthportTrinity handball in the box handed FJSC a lifeline.  From the awarded penalty Daniel MacArthur drilled the ball home to give FJSC Blacks a 2–1 lead.

Trinity rallied and fashioned a couple of dangerous moments, but FJSC’s defence stood tall and their own keeper stayed calm, making smart stops late on. The final whistle sparked relief and delight for FJSC.  It was the team’sfirst ever win after more than a year of trying. There were sterling performances across the pitch and confidence is now sky-high heading into the next fixture.  See team photograph above.

FJSC Under 14 Whites played Formby Wanderers in the cup.  It was a fantastic match and an outstanding performance by the Whites.  Wanderers went ahead early on but this did not deter the desire and commitment from the FJSC team.   The Whites drew level at 1-1 with a Will Rawsthorne goal before half time.

In the second half  the Whites played very well with Ben Gregory at the centre of the action alongside Dylan Hyslop who provided the assists for Will Rawsthorne who was on top form scoring three more goals to secure a hard fought 4-2 cup win for his team.  Man of the Match was four-goal Will Rawsthorne.

FJSC Under 15’s came from behind to win 2-1 in a tough match against TQ Academy. Battling a strong wind in the first half FJSC defended well and had goalkeeper Riley Higgs to thank for some good saves, but he was unable to prevent an own goal following a corner. At the other end Ethan Murphy, Ethan Richmond and Yaroslav Vovnianko came close to scoring after hitting TQ on the break, but at half time FJSC remained one nil down.

In the second half FJSC pushed on and equalised through Ethan Murphy who ran onto an excellent through ball by Evan Hughes and tucked the ball into the far corner of the net.  FJSC then took the lead when Tom Donnelly played a clever pass to Ethan Murphy on the right wing who played in Ethan Richmond to fire home and put FJSC 2-1 up and a lead held to the final whistle.  The Under 15’s have now won their first five matches of the season and sit joint top of the league.

FJSC Under 14 Blacks Saturday team suffered their first loss of the season losing 2-3 to Maghull Yellow.  The Blacks held a 2 nil lead with goals from Fabian Reilly and Lucas Lewis after a good first half performance which saw some lovely passing interchanges. Maghull always looked dangerous on the counter but given the Blacks relative domination early in the game FJSC should have found the all-important third goal.

Gradually the Blacks became more defensive as the game progressed and Maghull pulled one goal back .  As the momentum swung FJSC could not hang on and allowed Maghull to score twice in the final five minutes.

It was back to winning ways on Sunday for FJSC Under 14 Blacks as the team put in a strong performance against a capable Clay Brow. Skipper Seb Burdett-Clarke and the back four were solid, in sync and intelligent in their play. Sam Howell and Jenson Heronwere immense in the middle and the rotated front four of Connor Howells, Will Madutlela, Fabian Reilly and Ben Harris showed class sharing all the goals between them.  Man of the Match was Will Madutlela.

FJSC U13 Black Saturday team entered the game knowing that a win would secure their place in the Hightown Premier Winter League.   They started at a rapid pace, and it didn’t take long for their attacking play to pay off. Isaac Jones opened the scoring with an acrobatic finish. Charlie Richardson followed with a superb strike to make it 2–0, and Josh Burr added a third with a smart finish. Before the first twenty minutes were up, Isaac Jones netted his second to extend the lead to 4–0.

Warbreck FC managed to pull one back, but Charlie Richardson responded quickly to make it 5–1. A brace from Josh Burr just before the stroke of half-time brought the score to 7–1, although Warbreck grabbed another goal just before the break.

The second half was more of a battle. Josh Burr scored his fourth of the game with a brilliant free kick, but Warbreck FC fought back with two more goals. The match eventually ended 8–4 for FJSC.  Man of the Match was Josh Burr.

FJSC Under 13 Black Sunday team entered the quarter-final of the cup as reigning champions, facing what was arguably the toughest possible draw against a strong and well-organised Southport Trinity Blue.  The match kicked off in less-than-ideal weather conditions, setting the stage for a close and cagey encounter—especially after a tightly contested league game between the sides just three weeks earlier. Both teams battled hard in the first half, with the midfielders working tirelessly to carve out any meaningful chances. While neither side managed to create clear-cut opportunities, there were a few half chances at both ends.

As the second half began, FJSC looked to push for the opening goal. However, it was Southport Trinity who broke the deadlock from a corner. Oscar Phillips made a brilliant clearance, but the resulting shot flew back into the danger area, deflected off a FJSC player’s knee and looped into the far corner.

That goal seemed to ignite FJSC’s momentum. They began to apply increasing pressure, and eventually a superb ball from midfield released Alfie Frost, who finished confidently to level the score at 1–1. With the momentum now firmly in their favour, FJSC continued to press. Their persistence paid off when another excellent through ball found Alfie Frost again, and he calmly slotted home to make it 2–1.

It was a brilliant performance from FJSC, taking them one step closer to reaching their fourth final in the last five seasons. Man of the Match was Alfie Frost.

FJSC Under 12 Whites Saturday team won 9nil against Silcox Villa.  On Sunday Dylan Scally, Paddy O’Callaghan, Zac McHugh and Zac Cooper scored one goal each in a good 4-1 victory over Burscough FC Barca.

FJSC Under 12 Blacks Saturday team narrowly lost 2-1 to Redgate Rovers Black.   A 4-0 win against MHS Marseille was gained by FJSC Under 12 Blacks on Sunday.

FJSC Under 12 Red started well against Formby Wanderers with some strong exchanges in midfield led by Jacob Holton and Lucas Firth. The Reds showed some great defensive work but chances were few and far between until Wanderers got the breakthrough against the run of play. The Reds fought back but centre back James Hannan was forced off with a knock which saw a defensive reshuffle near the end of the first half. Wanderers took advantage of this and pressed up the pitch forcing mistakes which led to a second goalafter several immense saves from Brett McKeown. FJSC were 2 nil down at half time but still in the game.

The second half saw the Reds come out fighting and several breakaways from Frank Kulazinski and Izakk Hill forced the game to be played in the Wanderers half. A surging run and skilful dribbling from Izakk Hill ended in him being brought down for a penalty and the ball was handed to Frank who slotted the ball into the top corner. A recovered James Hannan came back on up front this time and his strength and running caused big problems for the Wanderers defence. A huge clearance from Brett McKeown by-passed the defence and setup Frank Kulazinski who smashed the ball against the post. As the ball rebounded James Hannan was there to smash home and bring the Reds level at 2-2 level. The Reds were up for this now and with a few minutes left on the clock it was end to end action with both keepers making fantastic saves.

A last minute lapse of concentration saw a Wanderers cross fall to an unmarked player at the back post who poked it past the keeper and a heart breaking end to the game for the Redswho had battled so hard  but just missed out on what would have been a well- earned point. Man of the Match was Jacob Holton who’s battling and silky skills in midfield was one of the highlights of the match.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks produced a dominant display against Southport Athletic Blacks. From the first whistle, Formby showed their attacking intent, pressing high and creating chances. Their quick passing, teamwork and clinical finishing saw them race into a commanding lead by half time. Southport Athletic battled bravely and managed to find the net twice despite a very solid defensive performance for Formby, but ultimately Southport couldn’t contain FJSC’s relentless forward play.

It was a complete team performance from FJSC Blacks, with standout contributions across the pitch. There were goals from Alex Rowley, Jack Hansen, Olly Stinson, Adam Tyler-Holland, Noah Underwood and Idris Jones. All the boys were very good at holding their positions. It really is starting to click together now, and it’s great watching how much they have come on and matured as a team.  Well done to Alex Rowley for a great performance up front and continuing his clinical hot streak to secure Man of the Match.

A fantastic effort was made by the FJSC Under 11 Gold team in the match with Southport Athletic Whites, which showed how much the team has come on during the first few weeks of the season. The passing, awareness, and teamwork were excellent, and everyone should be really proud of their effort. Ahmad Abdulafeez made his match debut and scored a great goal, as well as setting up Charlie Herbert with a superb assist. Lewis McColl also found the net with a brilliant finish that, unfortunately, didn’t count — but his hard work and energy made a big difference throughout the game. Defensively, the team looked organised and determined, with some excellent tackling and clearances on show. Player of the Match was Freddie Humphreys who worked tirelessly in defence and led by example with a strong, committed performance. It was another big step forward for the FJSC Gold team with great teamwork, great attitude, and plenty of positives to build on.

FJSC Under 9 Blacks played away at Crosby Stuart Youth and started strong with a few attempts on goal that had the woodwork rattling but couldn’t get the ball over the line. With a quick counter attack Crosby Stuart took the lead. Into the second half Crosby Stuart capitalised on a change of subs andagain found the back of the net. FJSC soon countered and got a goal back which was well taken by Sam O’Brien.

With the weather conditions deteriorating Crosby Stuart held their lead. FJSC were a little unlucky on the day. Throughout the whole game the boys battled hard and didn’t let their heads go down. Overall it was a good effort by the team.  Man of the Match wasZach Oliver-Watts for his amazing defence skills and for a cracking shot that just went wide of the goal.

FJSC Under 9 Whites played very well against Burscough Dynamo from start to finish.  On the scoresheet were Archie Jones, Henry Ade and Franklin Chignell. Joint Players of the Match were Archie Jones and Henry Ade.

FJSC Under 8 Whites Saturday team produced a fantastic team

performance against FCFC.   There was plenty of energy and pressure from the first minutewhich set the tone and the boys comfortably settled into the game.   The Whites workedwell, pressing high up and put their chances away with goals from Cormac Nice, Harry Brown and Albee Fairhurst. The Coaches Man of the Match for his great passing and tacklingwent to Archie Jones.  Sonny Clarke was the Parents’ Man of the Match for his tackling.

FJSC Under 8 Whites showed how much they have improved with a very encouraging team performance against a very good Southport and Ainsdale team.  The team went toe-to-toe with one of the best sides in the league and held their own for large parts of the match. Just a few weeks ago, this same fixture endedin a very heavy defeat. This time, the Whites lost the encounter in a much closer result and scored three well-worked goals, created numerous chances, and showed composure, discipline, and real intent. The progress this squad is making is impossible to ignore.

Every single player put in a shift and the management team and supporting parentscouldn’t be prouder of the group. The shape and positioning shows improvement every week and while the team is still prone to the odd silly mistake, there’s no denying they areheading in the right direction. The work on the training ground is starting to show and that’s a real credit to everyone involved.

Up front, Cian O’Farrell was a constant threat. He bagged two goals and was unlucky not to come away with a hat-trick after hitting the post and forcing a couple of great saves from the S and A keeper. Corey Flynn added to his growing goal tally with another smart finish, continuing his fine run of form.

While every player deserves praise, the standout performance—and Player of the Match went to Izzy Radcliffe. It was her best game so far.  Izzy’s relentless pressing, tackling, and energy completely unsettled the S. and A. defence and directly led to some of the FJSC goals. She was absolutely outstanding.

Next week brings another tough test, but the team go into it full of belief. The squad is improving fast and proving that they can give anyone in the league a real game.

FJSC Under 8 Blacks were in action against Crosby Stuart and played very well particularly after going one goal behind. Ollie Jones, Albee Fairhurst and Jonas Ebo were the scorers.  Man of the Match was Dylan Woods.  Also receiving awards were Jonas Ebo for his tireless effort and Cole Jones for his constant running and tackling.

It was a very even match between FJSC Under 6 Whites and Crosby Youth.   Goalkeeper Ezra Hodgson for the first third of the match and then George Leggett in the next fifteen minutes both made some great saves. Crosby edged ahead but goals from Arthur Pollard and Leo Clarke kept FJSC in close contention.  A spectacular goal line clearance by Leo Clarke was one of the highlights.  Player of the Match was George Leggett who battled for every ball and when in goal made some very good saves.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played a very well organised Remy Girls’ team.  The Blacks played some good football in spells but could not convert their chances into goals.  Gene Dugdale showed great energy and deservedlyscored a very good hat trick .  Player of the Match was Rory Dunn who made some very good saves in goal.
