Formby Junior Sports Club’s 65th season will commence on Saturday 7th September with the first Inter Club session. The majority of FJSC’s Representative teams will begin their fixtures the following weekend.
FJSC already has nearly two hundred and fifty members this season including over seventy new members. There will be twenty-three teams representing FJSC this season from Under 6 to Under 15 and the Inter Club Section will be for children between the ages of four and fourteen.
The club welcomes some new Representative team managers and assistant managers. Alsothere are five new teams as well - FJSC Under 8 Blacks, FJSC Under 10 Gold, FJSC Under 11 Blacks Saturday team and FJSC Under 13 Blacks Saturday team and FJSC Under 13 Blacks Sunday team.
All the Representative teams have been busy in preparing for the much awaited new season and no more so than FJSC’s youngest team the Under 7 Blacks. Last Saturday the boys took part in a tournament organised by Holy Rosary FC. The team won two out of three group matches gaining closely contested wins overByrom and Maghull Yellow. The Under 7’sthen went on to play the second placed team in the other group and at full time the match was goalless. A thrilling penalty shoot-out followed. FJSC scored all four of their penalties and a super save from Harry Brown meant that the boys were awarded with a trophy. Scoring goals in the tournament were Thomas Mitchell, Ollie Jones, Harry Brown, Tayo Popoola and Cole Jones. It was a very enjoyable pre-season competition which was enjoyed by everyone. See the photograph above of the jubilant FJSC Under 7 Black squad.

Parents can download a Formby Junior Sports Club membership form for 2024-2025 from the club website formbyjuniorsportsclub.co.uk which can be found in the club document section. Alternatively contact Club Chairman Frank Rourke at stellathecat4@gmail.com who will send you a form to complete and return and provide any necessary additional information. Alternatively parents can bring their children along on the day.
For new members, if parents wish a two session ‘try and see if their child enjoys it time ‘ before paying the annual club membership this is quite in order. The annual subscription is £25 for four year olds and Reception, £45 for Year One’s and £65 for all children in Year 2 and above. All that is needed initially is for a membership form to be completed.
Remember Inter Club football is open to all, as soon as a child becomes four years of age. They do not have to be in Reception yet.
Just because FJSC does not, at present have a Girls’ Section it does not mean that girls cannot play football at the club. Girls wishing to play football with the boys are very welcome to do so. In fact a number of the famous Lionesses started off their football playing with the boys.
