Formby Junior Sports Club put up a great effort in the cup final

Formby Junior Sports Club Under 11 Blacks put up a great effort in their cup final despite narrowly losing.  FJSC Under 13 Blacks late challenge for the league title is still on course and FJSC Under 6 Blacks record of playing a match every Sunday this season continued with another very good team display.

FJSC Under 11 Blacks played Redgate Rovers Green in the Craven Minor League’s Harry Cope Cup Final at Southport FC’s Big Help Stadium last Sunday.   See the squad photograph above.

FJSC were 2 nil down at half time but valiantly fought back in the second half and their efforts were rewarded when   Charlie Richardson scored a phenomenal goal to reduce the deficit to one goal.   FJSC’s took risks as they tried to find an equaliser they deserved but a third Redgate goal secured the cup win.

A special mention to all the FJSC boys whoregularly played all season  in the cup competition including the final and in all the league matches as well.  They were Oscar Phillips, Alex Barr, Charlie Burton, Alfie Forsyth, Caden Walker, Ellis Coyne, Finley Scott, Leo Fagan, Luke Millington, Louis O’Connor, Charlie Richardson and Ben Webster.  Also a big thank you to the management team of Simon Walker and Mark O’Connor who have guided the boys in an excellent season in which the FJSC Under 11 Blacks team only lost one league match.

In midweek FJSC Under 11 Blacks playedHillside, a team going for the Premier League title in the Hightown Junior League. FJSC started well and created some good chances throughout the first half but the goal just wouldn’t come. It did take a wonderful save from Oscar Phillips to keep the score at 0-0. Towards the end of the first half a pass caught out the FJSC defence and Hillside capitalised to make it 1 nil at half time.

Nothing much needed to change in the second half after a good first half performance and FJSC got the deserved equaliser after Luke Millington scored to make it 1-1. Hillside kicked back into life and after a good move retook the lead. FJSC then pushed on and a great finish from Charlie Richardson made it 2-2 before Caden Walker finished coolly past the keeper to make it 3-2 to FJSC. Finally Isaac Jones finished a good move for a fourthFJSC goal. There were

opportunities to extend the lead further but afifth goal just wouldn’t come. It was a good team performance.

FJSC Under 13 Blacks continued their challenge for the Craven Minor League Championship Division League title with a 10 nil win over Southport Trinity Whites.  Ethan Richmond scored five times and there was a hat trick for Ethan Murphy.  Completing the scoring were Ollie Dean and Patrick Fleming with one goal each.  If the Under 13’s can win their last two matches of the season they will win the league.  One of the fixtures is against the present league leaders TQ Football Academy Madrid.

FJSC Under 6 Blacks played brilliantly against Maghull Yellow in a Sefton Development League match in Netherton. Right from the start the boys were focused and scored three early goals. Dylan Woods made some great saves in the second period to keepthe Blacks on top and the boys continued topush on from there. There were some excellent goals scored but the most impressive aspect from this match was the passing. The boys are starting to pass to each other in space which is great to see.

Man of the Match was Thomas Mitchell for his great finishing again and intelligent play.  There was also a really strong performance by Dylan Woods for his tenacious tackling, always doing his best for the team and even volunteering to play in goal.  The Referee’s Player of the Match was Ollie Jones who played with his usual commitment and his efforts were also rewarded with a great goal. Cole Jones and Theo Thomas also scored and there were good performances from Max Healey and Teddy Marron.

FJSC Under 6 Whites played Litherland Black and produced their best football of the season.  Everything clicked.  There was superb defending, great passing and some super goals including a first time volley from the half way line by Noah Ignatowicz.  Everyone was Man of the Match and the manager and supporters are very proud of the boys as they are really maturing and bonding as a team.  Noah Ignatowicz scored four times to take his goal tally to sixty for the season and Arthur Higgins also scored a hat trick. Leo Rogers, Anders Carter and Harry Brown also played well.
