There are celebrations at Formby High School today as students receive another excellent set of A Level and vocational results, with many now preparing to take up places at leading universities, apprenticeships and employment opportunities across the country.
The Class of 2026, one of the largest Year 13 cohorts in the school’s history, has achieved strong results across both academic and vocational qualifications following years of hard work and commitment.
More than half of A Level students, 53%, achieved AAB or better, while 21% of all entries were awarded the top A* or A grades.
Overall, 57% of A Level entries were graded B or above, 85% achieved a C or above and an impressive 99% secured a pass grade.
Students taking vocational qualifications also achieved excellent outcomes, with the vast majority securing Merit grades or higher.
But beyond the results themselves, today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Formby’s young people.
Two thirds of students are progressing to their ambitious first choice destinations, with members of the Class of 2026 securing places on highly competitive degree courses at universities across the UK.
Destinations include the University of Liverpool, University of Manchester, Lancaster University, University of Leeds, Newcastle University and Durham University.
Students will be studying an impressive range of subjects including Medicine, Engineering, Law, Psychology, Economics and the Creative Arts.
Others have chosen different routes and secured exciting apprenticeships and employment opportunities across a variety of sectors.
Headteacher Alex Wood said: “We are immensely proud of our students and all they have achieved. These results are the culmination of years of hard work, determination and commitment, and they reflect the ambition that characterises our Sixth Form community.”
“It is particularly pleasing to see so many students progressing to their first choice destinations and embarking on exciting next steps. Whether moving on to leading universities, apprenticeships or employment, our students have bright futures ahead of them and deserve to be hugely proud of their achievements.”
“I would also like to thank our dedicated staff and supportive families, whose encouragement, expertise and partnership have played a vital role in helping our students achieve their goals.”
David Pearson, Chair of Trustees, also expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishments and praised the combined efforts of teachers, parents and the wider school community in supporting young people to fulfil their potential.
For students and their families, today is the culmination of years of study, exams, revision and determination, as well as the start of a host of exciting new journeys.
Formby High School has congratulated every member of its Class of 2026 and wished them every success as they move on to the next stage of their education, training and careers.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026 from everyone at Formby Bubble.
