Drivers are being warned that the temporary traffic lights currently causing major congestion around Freshfield Road are expected to remain in place until Tuesday 10th June, meaning several more days of delays for motorists across Formby.
The emergency gas repair works are being carried out by Cadent Gas on Freshfield Road, with multi way traffic lights affecting traffic from a number of directions including Formby Bridge, Brows Lane and Marsh Brows.

Since the lights were installed, many residents have reported long queues and significant delays, particularly at busy times of the day. The traffic management system is having a knock on effect across the local road network, with journeys taking considerably longer than normal.
Cadent Gas has confirmed that the works are emergency repairs and are necessary to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the gas supply. However, with the current completion date not until 10th June, motorists should be prepared for disruption to continue for almost another week.

Anyone travelling through the area over the coming days is advised to allow extra time for their journey and, where possible, consider alternative routes.
For many local residents and commuters, the current traffic situation has become a daily frustration, but unfortunately it appears the delays will be with us until at least Tuesday 10th June.
