Here’s a look at how some of our teams fared over the weekend.
It was also fantastic to see Saturday morning coaching back with the Little Lions and Lionesses. The sun was shining down on Deansgate, and the sound of children’s laughter filled the air as they enjoyed their coaching sessions. It was a morning full of smiles, fun, and the joy of learning football!
FCFC U10 Boys Rockets v Southport Town
Despite the result, the U10 Rockets delivered a fantastic and proud performance. Every player contributed to a strong team effort. The defenders were solid, and the midfielders and forwards created several chances. Special mentions go to Tom, who made a great run down the right to cross for Ezra, who finished at the back post. Luke was brilliant in goal with great saves and clear instructions to his teammates, while Tom was a standout in midfield. In the end, the players voted Tom as Player of the Match – though the whole team was superb from start to finish!
FCFC U11 Falcons
The U11 Falcons faced a tough challenge against higher-league opposition. Despite the scoreline, the team fought hard, especially in the second half, showing great spirit and determination. A positive attitude from all the players as they continue to develop and improve.
FCFC U18 Boys 1 - 1 Redgate
In an unusual match where neither team fielded goalkeepers, the U18 boys battled Redgate in a closely contested game. Redgate broke the deadlock at the hour mark, but FCFC responded well. Isaac capitalized on a 40-yard crossfield ball to calmly slot it into the bottom corner, bringing the game level. In the dying moments, the team almost stole the win, but a great defensive effort by Redgate denied the chance. A 1-1 draw was a fair result, but the lads can take plenty of positives from their gritty performance.
FCFC U14 Boys 2 - 9 L4
A difficult game for the U14 boys, who dominated the first half but were undone by a few defensive errors. L4 capitalized on the mistakes, and the second half saw FCFC lose momentum. A tough day, but the boys will regroup and come back stronger.
FCFC U7 Boys Falcons
The Falcons enjoyed a positive win against Marina Sands New. Jack, Jonas, and Jagger impressed with their defensive work, while Devan, Jude, and George all found the net. The boys played with smiles on their faces, which is always the most important thing! Well done, Falcons!
FCFC U13 Boys Predators 1 - 11 Maghull
The U13 Predators struggled against a Maghull side who were physically stronger and quicker on the day. Although the game was tough, credit goes to the boys for their perseverance and commitment. The team will work on the basics at training, aiming for improvement in the next game.
FCFC U18 Girls 9 - 0 Rainhill
Playing at Walton Hall Park, the U18 girls put in a dominant performance against Rainhill. Despite a sluggish start, they went into halftime with a 3-0 lead and continued to press in the second half, finishing the game 9-0. An excellent result and a great start to the season for the girls!
FCFC U9 Boys Lions
The U9 Lions earned a comfortable win against Maghull Yellow, taking advantage of the extra time and space to play their football. Despite some rough fouls from the opposition, the boys stayed focused and came away with their first win of the season. Next week's game will be a tougher test, but the team will enjoy today’s victory!
FCFC U8 Boys Bengals v Marina Sands Blue
A fantastic display from the U8 Bengals, with standout performances from Ben, Joseph, and Lorcan upfront. Lorcan’s cheeky goal, walking the ball past the goalkeeper, was a highlight. The defence, led by Ernie, Zach, and Theo, held strong, with both Zach and Theo also getting on the scoresheet. Zach was named Man of the Match. Reggie returned in goal, contributing to a solid win in difficult conditions.
FCFC U13 Girls 7 - 0 Marina Sands
The U13 girls dominated their first game of the season, taking a comfortable lead early and maintaining their control throughout the match. Despite the wet weather, they played some fantastic football, keeping a clean sheet and securing a 7-0 win.
FCFC U9 Girls Tigers
The U9 Tigers put in a great team performance against Maghull, giving plenty of game time to their newer players. One of the new girls put in a brilliant shift in defence, earning Player of the Match for her effort. The team continues to improve, and they secured a great win.
FCFC U14 Girls
The U14 girls played Marina Sands U13s on the Astro at LCFA, but it was a tough day against the defending league champions. Though the final score wasn't in their favour, the team managed to grab a late consolation goal. With several new players, it’s a matter of time before the team gels together.
FCFC U12 Phoenix Girls 7 - 0 Marina Sands
In their first-ever game, the U12 Phoenix girls shone in difficult conditions at Carr Lane. They took control early and led 4-0 at halftime, eventually finishing 7-0 winners. A fantastic debut, with solid football and a clean sheet to top it off.
FCFC U8 Girls Foxes
The U8 Foxes had a fun but wet game against Rainford. Despite a few moments of confusion and some tears in the cold, the girls put in a great effort, earning a well-deserved draw. Everyone left the pitch smiling!
FCFC U13 Boys Purples 5 - 1 Litherland Athletic Greys
A fantastic performance from the U13 Purples, who came from 0-1 down to finish 5-1 winners. The team showed great character, belief, and skill, particularly Sophie at left back and Sam in midfield, who bagged two goals. A great result for the team!
FCFC U11 Girls Raiders V Churchtown Jaguars
The U11 Raiders were narrowly defeated by Churchtown Jaguars in a tight game. The opposition employed some questionable tactics, but the Raiders stayed focused and equalized before conceding late on. A big improvement from last week and plenty of promise for the season ahead.
FCFC U11 Girls Rapids v The Fillies
A difficult match for the Rapids, who faced a strong team filled with Sefton players. Despite a solid first half, the Rapids couldn’t maintain their energy in the second half. The scoreline didn’t reflect their effort, and the team remains determined to bounce back next time.
FCFC U14 Boys 5 - 4 L4
In a thrilling encounter, the U14 boys secured a 5-4 win against L4. After going 1-0 down, the team fought back to lead 3-1 at halftime, before the game swung back and forth. They held their nerve to grab a deserved winner in what was a fantastic display of desire and character.
FCFC Women’s 5-a-Side
The FCFC Women’s team started the season strong with two wins: a 6-2 victory against Inclusion Purple and a hard-fought 2-0 win over Comforts Angels. The team showed great teamwork, and after shaking off the early rust, they are looking forward to an exciting season ahead.
It’s been a mixed weekend for FCFC, but the spirit and determination of our teams, from the youngest age groups to the walking football and women’s sides, remain as strong as ever. Special shoutout to our Comets disability team who continue to embody everything our club stands for—football for all!
This now highlights the wider reach of FCFC and its variety of teams and football options. It’s ready for submission!
