The latest bathing water results for England have been released — and once again, Formby Beach has achieved the highest possible rating: Excellent.

This means the water quality at Formby is among the cleanest and safest in the country for swimming and paddling.

• Formby has been rated Excellent for four consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024 and now 2025).

• No pollution incidents were recorded for Formby this season.

• Water samples were taken regularly between May and September 2025, all showing consistently high standards.

• Formby’s clean water is supported by years of environmental improvements along the Sefton coast and ongoing monitoring by the Environment Agency.

How England performed overall

• 93% of bathing sites in England met the minimum safety standard.

• 66% achieved the top Excellent rating.

• 7% were rated Poor.
