Eviction proceedings started to evict the Travellers from Deansgate Lane playing fields

A traveller encampment was set up last night, Monday 5th July, on Deansgate Lane playing fields where the Formby Junior Foootball Club play every weekend.

Cllr Nina Mullen said: “Sefton Council have made a welfare visit to the traveller site at Deansgate Lane fields today and have started eviction proceedings which take around 14 days.”

“They may move on voluntarily before then. The gates were locked but unfortunately this lock was broken open. It is most likely the same group that was evicted from Foul Lane in Southport.”

“Every effort is being made to evict them from the site as quickly as possible.”
