More details revealed as new Sainsbury’s Formby prepares to open this Thursday

The countdown is well and truly on as the brand new Sainsbury’s Local on Liverpool Road in Formby prepares to open its doors on Thursday 24th September.

Formby Bubble can now bring you more details about the new store, including confirmation of an Argos collection point, a free cashpoint, customer parking and dedicated disabled parking.

The transformation of the former Everlast and LA Fitness building is now almost complete, with the Sainsbury’s Local signage in place and a large banner at the entrance confirming the 24th September opening date.

One of the biggest additions we can now confirm is an Argos collection point inside the new Sainsbury’s.

Argos has now created an official listing specifically for the Formby Liverpool Road Sainsbury’s Argos Collection Point, meaning customers will be able to order and pay for Argos products online before collecting them from the new Formby store.

The Argos listing currently shows opening hours of 7am until 11pm, seven days a week.

These hours are currently shown for the Argos collection point at the new store. We are still waiting for Sainsbury’s to publish the new Formby branch on its own store locator, so we will confirm the supermarket’s official opening hours separately as soon as they are available.

There is also a free cashpoint immediately outside the new Sainsbury’s, another useful facility for residents in this part of Formby.

The newly completed car park provides plenty of customer parking, including clearly marked disabled parking spaces close to the store, with new pedestrian and accessible routes around the entrance.

We have also spotted Smart Parking signage and equipment at the site. We do not yet have confirmation of the parking terms or any time restrictions, so motorists should check the signs carefully once the site is fully open.

There had previously been some uncertainty locally about whether the new Sainsbury’s would include Argos, but the new external signage and Argos’s own official store listing now confirm that it definitely will.

The new Sainsbury’s forms part of the major redevelopment of the former gym site on Liverpool Road, with Howdens also occupying part of the building.

It is quite a transformation for a site many Formby residents will remember over the years, and after months of work the new Sainsbury’s is now just days away from welcoming its first customers.

Sainsbury’s Formby opens Thursday 24th September.
