Great News for Formby as The Pinewoods Prepares to Reopen Under New Management
After a difficult few weeks which have seen several businesses close their doors in Formby, there is now some positive news for the community as one well known local pub prepares for a fresh new chapter.
The Pinewoods Traditional Free House will officially reopen on 23 March 2026 under new management, bringing life back to a venue that has long been a familiar meeting place for residents in the area.
Situated on Wicks Green close to the Formby Squirrel Reserve and behind the Harington Road shops, The Pinewoods has for many years been a traditional community pub where people come together to enjoy food, drinks and live sport.

The new team behind the reopening say they are looking forward to welcoming customers back with an exciting new menu featuring home cooked food, locally matched prices and the return of a traditional Sunday roast which has always been a favourite in pubs like this. Live sports will also be shown, ensuring the pub continues to be a place where people can gather with friends and fellow fans to watch the biggest sporting events.
For many in Formby, The Pinewoods has always been more than just a pub. It has served as a place where neighbours meet, friends catch up and families come together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The reopening comes at a time when many residents have been concerned about the number of recent closures across the village, making the return of a well known local venue something that will be warmly welcomed by the community.
With the doors set to open again later this month, The Pinewoods is preparing to begin a new chapter, bringing traditional pub food, live sport and a friendly atmosphere back to this much loved part of Formby.
Good luck to The Pinewoods Pub from everyone in our Bubble!
