A frightened Shih Tzu dog was thrown over the wall of Freshfields Animal Rescue car park on Monday

A poor, frightened Shih Tzu dog was thrown over the wall of Freshfields Animal Rescue car park on Monday 5th September. When she was discovered by the staff, she was shaking and terrified.

Freshfields have spent as much time as possible trying to comfort and reassure this little lady and she is slowly warming up to the staff. After scanning her, they now know that she is microchipped, however this has never been registered so we know nothing about her. The kennels team have decided to name her Mimi.

Deb Hughes, Fundraising and Communications Officer, at Freshfields, said: “Mimi will need a few days to fully settle into kennel life and recover from the stress of this traumatic event, and we’ll be giving her lots of love and TLC during this time. We will not be considering any applications for her for the next week as we want to ensure nobody comes forward to claim her. During this time she will remain in Freshfields’ care and we will be looking to rehome her after this period.”

“If you are interested in adopting Mimi please email: kennels@freshfields.org.uk and we will send you an application form.”

PLEASE NOTE - As we have no details regarding Mimi or her past, we will be looking for a home where she will be the only pet, with sensible children aged over 12. Due to the high volume of interest that has been shown for Mimi, please only apply if you fully meet this criteria.

As you can tell from the photos, Mimi is in quite a bad state. She will be having a full health check with our on-site vet where she will be vaccinated and eventually spayed three months after her next season. She is in desperate need of a groom, which we are hoping to arrange for when she is a bit more settled. This will hopefully make her feel a bit better and she will be able to see properly again, as her fur is overgrown on her head. We don’t want to stress her too much, and we’re taking things very gently.

If you are able to donate anything towards the cost of Mimi's care we would be extremely grateful. It is an very difficult time in rescue at the moment so every little helps.

Thank you to our local community for your fantastic support. Mimi can’t say how much we appreciate it, but we can. ”
