£400,000 Investment Revealed for Former Yousseff Gym Premises on Chapel Lane

The mystery surrounding the future of the former Yousseff gym premises on Chapel Lane can finally be revealed, with more than £400,000 being invested to transform the building into a major new addition to Formby village.
Specsavers Formby is moving into the prominent Chapel Lane premises, relocating from its long standing home at The Cloisters on Halsall Lane after around two decades serving the Formby community.
The move represents one of the biggest changes for the Formby store in many years and will see the former gym transformed into a significantly larger, fully accessible Specsavers offering an expanded range of eye and hearing services under one roof.
More space and much better accessibility
One of the main reasons behind the move is simply the need for more space.
The existing Halsall Lane premises has a room upstairs, which can present difficulties for customers with disabilities or mobility issues.
The new Chapel Lane store will be entirely on one level, making it much more accessible and giving the team considerably more room to provide its services.
The additional space will also allow Specsavers Formby to offer its complete range of glasses, providing customers with greater choice within the new store.
Eye and hearing care together under one roof
One of the biggest developments will be the introduction of audiology services within the new store, bringing eye and hearing care together in one location.
Customers will be able to access private and NHS hearing tests, as well as ear wax removal services, without having to travel elsewhere.
It means the new Specsavers will effectively become a one stop shop for eye and hearing care in Formby.
DVLA sight tests coming to Formby
Another important addition will be DVLA sight testing.
The new facilities and equipment will enable Specsavers Formby to carry out DVLA sight tests locally, meaning people who require one will no longer have to travel further afield to have their test completed.
With more than £400,000 invested in the relocation, the new store will have improved facilities and equipment designed to allow the team to provide an even wider range of services to the local community.
Important dates for Specsavers Formby customers
There will be a short period of closure while the team completes the move from Halsall Lane to Chapel Lane.
The current Halsall Lane store will be closed from Sunday 13th September until Wednesday 16th September, inclusive.
The new Chapel Lane store will then have a soft opening on Thursday 17th September. The soft opening will run for several days, giving staff the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new layout, equipment and surroundings and make sure everything is running smoothly before the official launch.
The official opening of the new Specsavers Formby store will take place on Monday 21st September.
After around two decades at The Cloisters, the relocation represents a significant investment in the future of Specsavers in #Formby.
The larger premises, improved accessibility, expanded range of glasses, new audiology facilities and DVLA sight testing will allow many more services to be provided locally.
And although Specsavers is saying goodbye to its long standing home on Halsall Lane, it isn’t going far.
Its new £400,000 home on Chapel Lane will begin the next chapter for a business that has been part of the Formby community for around 20 years.
