Formby Junior Sports Club - Franks report

Formby Junior Sports Club’s three youngest Representative teams had excellent results at the weekend and the Saturday and Sunday Under 11’s teams also had double success. FJSC Under 7 Blacks played Southport Athletic and won for the first time this season. Early goals in the first half from Noah Walker-Hall, Joseph Kenyon and Finn McDerby gave the whole team confidence. Will Roberts made some timely tackles in midfield and Ryan Lamb was as solid as ever in defence. With Harrison Hughes once again commanding in goal the Blacks reached half time without conceding a goal. Southport Athletic defended really well in the second half reducing FJSC’s chances. Two further goals were added by the Blacks before the end and a clean sheet was also maintained. It was pleasing to see that some of the practices rehearsed before Inter Club the day before were carried out in the match with great success. This included Harrison Hughes long goal kicks and the pressing high up the pitch which also worked well and led to goals being scored. Finn McDerby with two goals earned himself a very worthy man of the match on his birthday. See photograph above of the squad. Joseph Kenyon scored a hat trick and Noah Walker-Hall was also on target with two goals. It was a very good team effort. FJSC Under 7 Whites put in a strong performance against a well organised Crosby Stuart side. Despite dominating large parts of the first half, which saw Mason Stringer hit the bar twice Formby found themselves one nil down at the break. in the second half FJSC continued to play really well and more chances led to goals. A number of sublime passing moves involving all the players saw Mason Stringer score a brace and Diego Funes-Cervera one, after he had also hit the woodwork with a shot. Joshua Halpin and Joshua Tallon both got assists with some great passing. Jaiden Crosby and Clayton Gilbertson played well in defence and often started off Formby’s moves with balls out from the back. Thomas Crutchley played a large part of the game up front and his pressing of the Crosby Stuart defence was a real highlight. It was another excellent match played between two good teams. FJSC Under 8’s were in action against Hesketh Colts. The team was on top form and won their first match of the season. Matthew Crutchley scored a hat trick, Harrison Taylor also scored twice but the man of the match was Zac Hooson-Jones who played very well and capped his display with a goal. FJSC Under 11’s Saturday team went 1 nil down to Merseyboys after only two minutes. Berat Ulusoy scored twice to give FJSC the lead. In an end to end topsy-turvy game Merseyboys went ahead again but goals from Charlie Garvey and Callum Gray saw the Under 11’s lead again by half time. The FJSC defence tightened up after the interval and FJSC’s first half scorers all added a goal each. Man of the match was Berat Ulusoy who scored a hat trick. Josh Adderley also played well in an exciting encounter. On Sunday FJSC Under 11’s produced a great team performance against Southport and Ainsdale. The passing was slick particularly in the first half. Even in the second half FJSC maintained in control of the game despite having any substitutes. Charlie Garvey scored four, man of the match Dominic Maxwell notched a hat trick. There were two goals each for Callum Gray and Archie Ogden. Harrison McGrath also scored a goal to complete the scoring. INTER CLUB FOOTBALL There was another good attendance at Inter Club. Saturday’s scorers were – Finley Duffin, Daniel Johnson, Sam Mills, Rory Roberts, Jackson Ebo, Jack Haggart, Seb Hodgson, James Smith, Mason Stringer, Noah Walker-Hall, Joshua Halpin, Joel Wright, Huey Stevenson, Josh Tallon, Diego Funes-Cervera, Jenson Gray, Rory Rankine, Joseph Kenyon, Jack Williams, Tom Donnelly, Patrick Fleming, James Potts and Oliver Dean. There will be no Inter Club on Saturday 24th October as it is the start of half term. The next Inter Club will be on Saturday 31st October.
