Local MP joined over 700 people for the Formby Walk of Witness on Good Friday

We were blessed by beautiful weather at the popular Churches Together Good Friday walk of witness and passion play in Formby on Friday 19th April.

Bill Esterson MP joined David Swannick Chairman and 700 people from Formby and much further afield. People walked from local churches to gather in Chapel lane. Dressed in purple for lent or yellow for Easter and carrying banners they made a colourful site walking down Chapel Lane and Brows Lane to Formby Pool Gardens.

David Swannick, Chairman of Churches Together welcomed everyone. Rev Mark Stanford led the prayer and address reminding us of the meaning of Jesus sacrifice on Good Friday and Easter message.

The passion play told the story from the perspective of the centurion played by Stuart Jones with Tim Hogben as Jesus. It was a moving mussical performance that caused a few tears although there was also some humour with the hapless soldiers caught sleeping on Easter Sunday and crowd participation. The cast of 30 adults and children gave it their all and conveyed the Easter story beautifully.

David Swannick Chairman of Churches Together in Formby said "it was a wonderful celebration of the Easter story, the basis of our Christian faith. We thank all the people who made today happen, the volunteer stewards, cast, staging crew, staff of Formby Pool and everyone who came to take part."

Volunteers from Formby Pool and Holy Trinity provided refreshments with £162 being donated to the Mozambique disaster appeal.
