Headteacher of Range High School, Mr Aldridge is sadly leaving the school at the end of Summer term
Headteacher of Range High School, Mr Graham Aldridge is leaving the school and a new headteacher is to be appointed for September 2019. Mr Aldridge is seen in the above photo with pupils in 2016.
Dr M Thomas from the Chair of Governors at Range High School told Formby Bubble: "Range High School Governors have reluctantly accepted a letter from Mr Aldridge indicating his intention to retire. He wishes to pursue other interests outside education." "All members of the Governing Body believe that the underlying quality of education for pupils at the school is high, and we and the staff are committed to addressing the areas highlighted in the recent OFSTED report." "Governors have set up a process to ensure that a new headteacher is appointed for September 2019. In the meantime Mr Aldridge will continue to maintain the aims and values of Range High School whilst leading our response to the OFSTED inspection. He has the full support of the Governors." Range High school currently has about 1,300 students aged 11–18, including about 250 in the sixth form. The school is one of the few schools in the country to have received five consecutive 'outstanding' ratings from OFSTED. The school was inspected by OFSTED in 2013, when both the main school and the sixth form were rated 'outstanding'. In 2013, the school also saw a record percentage – 84% – of students achieving at least five GCSEs at A*–C including Maths and English. This was the highest percentage achieved in 2013 by any state school in Sefton.
In 2015, the school achieved its strongest A-level results ever, with a 100% pass rate at A2 and 58% of students achieving A*–B grades. In 2016, the school was one of only three schools in the area to achieve a positive Progress 8 score on the new national school performance measures.
In late 2018, Range Highs most recent inspection by OFSTED viewed the school as ‘requiring improvement’.
