After decades of serving our community, the tradition of having a pharmacy open on Sundays in Formby has now come to a permanent end.
The temporary NHS-funded Sunday opening — which had been extended in recent months — has now finished. The NHS has withdrawn this funding, describing the service as “historic” and “outdated,” with no similar provision being offered elsewhere for a one-hour Sunday opening.
We know this will be disappointing for many residents, as Sunday pharmacy access was a valued part of local healthcare support. Unfortunately, there is now no Sunday chemist in Formby — ever again.
